As a recent diagnosed pancreatic cancer patient I told my children when ever they see a butterfly 🦋 they should think of the fact that they are so free, and peaceful and remember how much I love to watch the butterflies in my garden and know how much I love them and will always be with them. One of my earliest patients who was getting ready for end of life care peacefully told me that when we pass away, our souls come back as butterflies. She said she’d come back as a monarch butterfly. The next spring, the first butterfly I saw was a monarch and immediately made me think of her, and how graceful and sweet she was ❤

OMG Chandi!!! I absolutely love this shawl. Butterflies have a very special meaning to me and my family. My mother told us that when she dies, she is coming back as a butterfly. I’m pretty certain she did not know all the things associated with the butterfly that you mentioned. She died back in 1986 well before the internet and practically instant access to a plethora of of information. To this day, when I’m out and about and see a butterfly fluttering about, I always say, hi Mom, so glad you could join us today. It would be such a delight to Winn a set of your gorgeous yarn.

I love this warm hug of a wrap! I can't wait to make it! Butterflies are wonderous creatures! One of my most beautiful memories of homeschooling my children, was when we raised Painted Lady butterflies from tiny black eggs, to larva, to munching-munching-munching caterpillars, to chrysalis, to gorgeous butterflies! We raised them for many generations. It was an amazing experience that moved me to tears.....while the ground outside lay frozen and covered in glistening snow, gorgeous butterflies were being born. And they seemed to know us! We could wear them as pins, or earrings, or rings, or hair doobers. It was an unforgettable lesson that is being carried on with my grandbabies today, as I type this. They still have the same netted house and have raised several 'batches' of the beauties. It all just thrills my heart!

Butterflies remind me of the constant change and renewal of life. When I was 22 years old I lost three of the most important women in my life within three months of each other. My Mom and younger sister to cancer and my maternal grandmother to complications of diabetes. Whenever I see butterflies it’s a reminder of their beautiful souls and how blessed I was to have had them in my life even for such a short time. This pattern and yarn base are a perfect blend for each other. Thank you Chandi for the inspiration and beautiful creativity you share with us.🦋

I love this pattern. Its like both my abuelas' used to tell me "This is your beginning into adulthood. Your childhood was you in a cocoon and now you emerge as a beautiful butterfly, a woman that can do anything she sets her mind to. One that will never bow her head and others will follow in her footsteps. You ARE that woman. We love you and wish to guide you the best we can even in our frail age." They both have passed on, my maternal and paternal grandmothers. Their legacy and teachings live on in those that truly loved them even at their lowest point. My family and I have been healing, and in that journey, I have taken back up on sewing, embroidery and crocheting as each craft was taught by both my abuelas. When they would get together, they would each do a little thing for the other in their craft.❤

Butterflies bring messages of love and hope from our departed loved ones. One of my most cherished memories was being in a field when the temperature warmed and thousands of monarch butterflies woke up from hibernation and started fluttering around me. There were so many that their wings created a gentle breeze. I will never forget this experience. ❤

Butterflies, for me, represent strength in fragility. I live with chronic severe pain and chronic illness, and am a member of a support group on FB where we call ourselves butterflies. It is a wonderful community of ladies (and a few men) who support and help each other in our health struggles and journeys. Every month each of us sends something anonymously to another butterfly, to uplift and comfort and say 'someone is thinking of you and I hope you are ok'. It is a special group of very special people, perfectly represented by the beautiful butterfly ❤ Thankyou for this lovely pattern.

what a gorgeous pattern and the stitches are so elegant and soft looking just like a butterfly..To me a butterfly symbols growth, starting off as a cocoon and then coming out of its shell to show it's beauty, which when you think about it its for everyone..We all need to come out of shell so that we can truly show our beauty and allow others to see it as well...Everytime I see one in my garden I smile and talk to them telling them just how beautiful they truly are..I often take photos and just watch them doing their thing within my flowers..Always brings a smile to my face, especially if I'm having a bad day..

Butterflies remind me that even the most delicate of God's creatures is also a hard worker. I'm wanting to try this pattern after I have more experience in crocheting. I was taught at age 12 by my Precious Grandmother. I wish id have understood the gift she had given me. Instead i allowed School Sports, Volleyball and Yes Boys! Well, i took care of my grandmother til she passed and then my mother as she passed suddenly in my arms. So, I returned to crochet as a way to handle the losses. In my nearly gardenless, heavily concreted, bustling neighborhood of the city, we seldom see butterflies. I always feel a little thrill when a brilliant little flit of color hovers around me for a few seconds. It's a moment to stop, and really appreciate life, in the middle of a hectic day. This shawl is so graceful and fluttery, and the gentle colors of this yarn set really do give it a sense of magic.

I've called butterflies "flutter-bys" for many years. It just seems to fit them better. 🦋 My fav flutter-by memory is when I went to the Butterfly Museum in Victoria, BC, Canada many years ago. Being surrounded by flitting flashes of color all around you is mesmerizing. However, one lady was quite distressed when a rather large beauty refused to let go of her flowered top even after she left the enclosure and went into the gift shop. I don't think the idea of being taken "captive" had entered her mind, but staff reassured her she would be freed, though it might take a little time. They said "it happens" but explained there's no easy way to dislodge the passenger without harming it. Oh, to have such troubles!

This shawl is not only beautiful, but the meaning behind this is so touching. My friend Carmen was the kindest of souls and had a big butterfly tattoo on her chest. I had known her for probably 10 years before she had something on and I saw it. She said she just had this special connections with butterflies . I was devastated when she suddenly and unexpectedly passed away but I know in my heart whenever I see a butterfly or especially when one lands on me it’s my dear friend Carmen watching over me and helping me on those hard days. This would be a lovely shawl to make to honor her. 💕🦋

As ever - you are such a generous lovely soul. Thanks so much for the Giveaway opportunity! This pattern really is lovely. Thanks for sharing it!! My dad was a teacher, and as a child - we spent our entire summers at our lake cabin in northern MN. It was in the boonies - best childhood ever. My dad built the cabin when I was an infant in a playpen. We took our baths in the lake and brushed our teeth in the bushes (no electricity & no running water- just an outdoor pump with the coldest water!!!). We water skied every day, pushed our raft to the middle of the lake and sat and talked while we ate our PB&J sandwiches. A glass bottom boat is great, but I truly loved building butterfly houses. We walked into the woods to pick milkweed and watched the process from caterpillar , to cocoon, to butterfly. That was over 50 yrs ago, and I remember it like yesterday. I'm not eloquent with my words, but I still feel a sense of wonderment. Fascinated by life, interested in the science of it, and cherishing the immense beauty. 20yrs after my butterfly experience, I became an OB/NICU RN. 😌.....best 'job' ever! 💕
