If you have an Aldi near you, switch to them for things like meat, produce, milk, cheese, and eggs. Way cheaper. I paid .98 cents a gallon last week for milk. A dozen eggs ranges from .99 cents to 1.49. Can't beat it.

I have an aldi, an asda, a farmfoods and those south-asian owned cash and carries (I'm south-asian, so my family shop here a lot to buy stuff we need for the food we make). My family save a lot on milk, bread, cereals, cheese, tuna and eggs because of farmfoods. Then aldi saves us money on other snack things like yoghurts, croissants, potato cakes etc. The cash and carry saves us money on meat as south asian shops sell meat a lot cheaper and even cut every little bit of fat from the meat off for you, which is super helpful, as well as buying lentils, wholewheat flour, rice and spices from there. Asda saves my family money as well because of their own brand baked beans, canned chopped tomatoes, cereals, sauces, fruits etc. And my family are also pretty lucky to have a market not so far from us where there is vast choices of fresh fruits and veg that are a lot cheaper than buying from places like asda. I think you just need to watch around and buy from these smaller independent food stores too in order to save money.

Any Aldi around is about an hour from me, but I go once a month to stock up on snack foods, dry goods and canned goods. I use my regular grocery store for meats, produce and such. You should see the looks I get when I roll up to check out with so many multiples of so many items! Wish we had one closer so I could go every week. But yes, it really IS cheaper. I wish Lidl would hurry up and branch out to the Northeast.

This was a struggle at first to get to $100 per person, like Jordan says, but if you plan out your meals and then shop you tend to not buy as much and waste food. I was doing about $150 per person when I started budgeting groceries, but have since been able to cut it down to $100. Even without price matching, just buy what's on sale and plan around it, if you can't price match. Thanks for the tips Jordan!!

it's easier for us south asians to eat cheaper because of the way our cuisine is. We practically just eat wholewheat flatbreads called 'roti' almost twice a day for dinner in my family, and for that we just need to buy a big pack of wholewheat 'atta' (flour) that lasts us months, and we eat those with a dish or curry that usually is made enough to last at least 3-4 meals (so approx 2 days), especially in my family of 6. These dishes include lentil dishes or curries, meat and poultry based curries, and veg dishes we eat with the rotis, and sometimes we will switch it up and eat rice instead of roti. My family eat this every day of the week, instead of friday or maybe saturday night, where we will eat non-asian cuisine.

@allisonritchie56957 жыл бұрын
Ashleigh Watson you misunderstood the formula. It’s $100/person per month= $400. Divides by four weeks gives you $100 a week for a family of four. It’s not $100 per person per week.
@lmonkey256 жыл бұрын
Zara Harrison I believe she suggested the base starting point for a monthly budget is $300.... $100/person but starting at $300. (I thought I heard her mention that in a past video). So a family of 4 would have $400/mo ($100/wk)... but a single person or a couple with no kid would have $300/mo ($75/wk) still.... totally doable if being frugal. (It's supposed to be a little uncomfortable until you have more financial wiggle room to increase that amount).

Unfortunately Walmart no longer price matches. You can use the Walmart app which has the savings catcher where if you buy something and the price lowers within a few days they will give you the difference. Only problem is that you have to use the app to pay for your groceries using Walmart pay and you have to put your bank account information into the app.

$100 per person...PER MONTH?! I guarantee you that A LOT of people CANNOT actually afford that. While it may be an ideal standard and in a perfect world food wouldn't have to be compromised with bills and rent and such things, then maybe this could work. Realistically though, the average family cannot live up to this. That being said, you can adequately feed a family on MUCH less if you're wise about it. ALDI is your grocery best friend for (most) things..if you use coupons and rewards, you'll save even more money. You also have to be smart about meal planning. Then you don't have to spend so much money! I wish I could spend $100 a month on myself just for groceries...

I live in Canada but I use the Flipp app too. Make your grocery list and then using the search feature type in your item. It will show you if that item is on sale at any of the stores in your area. Click on the photo of the item and it saves into a “shopping list”. I put all my price matching stuff on the belt after my regular items and then show the cashier the “shopping list” so that they can verify the sale price. I saved $31.17 last week from price matching. There is also a coupon option with the Flipp app but I haven’t played around with it too much.

The problem with Ads is to ask family members if they will eat it first. It's waste to buy stuff on sale and no one eats it. My kids change eating habits when I'm least expecting it and I see good deals but who will eat canned food?

Too bad most stores done price match. The Walmart app is great. You get money back.

sadly, this is not possible anymore. Nobody price matches. ALDI's is ok; but I found that the produce goes bad faster. It's ok for some thing; but not all. AND, I still have to go to other stores for other things that ALDI's doesn't offer. I wish she would go on and do another one to see "if" it's still possible (large family style).

I love coupons! Buy items cheap and stop up. This is coming from a frugal vegeterian who buys things on the cheap! Honestly, I actually think Walmart is expensive. Never has Bogos or good sales!

Julie A. Hamilton also the produce is moldy and the attitudes stink. I can't stand walmart.
