The nicest dresses I have are for church because my husband works there, but most other people just wear jeans. My church dresses usually double as my attire to weddings/funerals. I have stared wearing more dresses as a stay-at-home-mom to look more put together, but still it’s not an occasion to look elegant like Kate in heels

I agree. Here in Montana the dress is so casual you can usually find someone (usually a guy but not always, lol) in jeans, plaid shirt and a baseball cap at any event. I really wish people dressed up more. Even fancy gala-type events have now devolved into ‘come as you are’.

I personally think Catherine looks better with straightened hair look, with slight volume at the top. The curly ends makes her hair at the top look flat. I've never met her in person, so my opinion is based on the photo & video material. I remember that one look where she looked particularly good & would like to see it more. It's difficult in the US where the emphasis is more throwaway chic than classic. Example: the insane difficulty here of finding taupe or nude tone kitten or low heels, your term "court shoes" (love that for its suggestion of tradition and formality). Classic clothing, not only difficult to find but if you can they are usually very expensive or custom. What you find here in mid-range price fashion is poorly made, garish colors, styles created for either the teenboy copycat look (skinny, androgyny) or its polar opposite. Many of us who want to look classic, classy, feminine - just give up and settle for t-shirt/jeans for casual or some version of a suit for professional office work (women's suits being an unpleasantly copied male versions). Classic go-with-everything blazer in a neutral color? Good luck on that one too. Pencil or soft a-line skirts? Nope. On offer: Skirts long enough to sweep dustbunnies or too short even for college kids and often shown with thick soled Olive Oyl clompies or combat boots. No wonder mature adult women in the US are despairing! Time for me to move to London, for sure!
