Hey Rhys! I've been following you for some time. I live in Western Canada and have done so for my entire life. Fishing in dary waters has been an often done thing. Some parents of the year, the fish you catch here have Dark classes and a white cane! 😂 So I watched your video and really enjoyed it. I noticed that on some of your. Patterns that they followed a coloured scheme you may not see.....or maybe you do! Years a vo I went too a flyshop where a book was published, Titled How Fish See!? The book spoke of stained water and what colours fish. Could best see in dark water. Your instructions were good but when I switched to the suggestions in these pages, it surprised me!! So you are no doubt right but I think we could gather an awful lot of information by combining several bits of knowledge. You are so right about creating a black or dark silhouette in the water. Very important. The colour that a fish sees in Murphy water is blue, purple or various shades of that. So if I was to go try a fly from your recipe, I would add a touch of one of those colours. They have saved many a day for me. Here we occasionally fish Blue Crystal Flash woolly Bugger. I hope you don't find me being critical, but I have few people to discuss fly fishing and I know of your reputation. I am always looking for input or discussion. Thanks so much!

Great video Rhys - really well presented. It will definitely benefit some of the smaller midlands waters when they reopen.

Cracking advice for when I get out in the midlands. One of my favourite venues has suffered this terribly with the trend for autumn sown crops. Added to this the lack of germination means even more silt gets off the land and into the catchment watercourse. Great content Rhys. Thanks

Just found your channel and love your approach and skill. New to fly fishing you use a lot of technical words. I have been trying to find one of your videos on basic's including knots, casting and terminology. Thanks

Hi Rhys. Thanks for all the hard work you put into your channel. Please would you tell me? When you are buzzer fishing "straight line." Are the bugs on a dropper, or are they tied front and back of the hook itself? Thanks
@RhysFishes
@RhysFishes Жыл бұрын
‘Straight line’ doesn’t involve a bung. It’ll just be 2 or 3 flies on a cast fished as standard. The difference between bung and straight lining is that the flies will be presented vertically and static. Whereas with the straight line, your presenting the flies on a more horizontal plane and with a little more movement.

Awesome. I need to seriously lengthen my leaders!

So I went up to 15ft and I couldn't load the rod properly. Perhaps it was because the lake I was at has a lot of obstructions to the back cast so you can only put out so much fly line. Do you need to be casting a lot of fly line to turn over a leader as long as 15ft?

Another great video Rhys, I've got a question regarding using boobys. I was of the understanding that boobys were fished on the surface eg when using them on the washing line method, but can they also be used sub surface when using sinking lines?
@RhysFishes
@RhysFishes 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Boobies actually came from fishing heavy sinking lines on the deck, and then worked their way up to the upper columns of water with methods like the washing line. At the right time of year, a booby on a mid-heavy sinking line will out fish everything else.
