I have been trying to learn two color brioche was four days solid . I have watched and watch videos by knitters I usually learn from easily. I have started over and over and could only get so far before ripping out and starting again. I am no new knitter--I have knitted for decades. But when you talked about reading my stitches, I got it! Thank you so much!

You won’t believe if I told you I have been looking for an explanation to this stitch which I had in French for years. Been following a few other videos, but yours is the best by far even if you talk a lot a real teacher :)

I really concur with everyone else , this is by far the best video on brioche knitting , thank you very much, previously it looked very difficult. My understanding is that , one colour is brioche purl & the other colour is brioche knit, thanks a million. I love it , much appreciated👌👌👌👌👌

I know this video is 4 years old but it's still very relevant to me. I'm an experienced knitter but have always had trouble understanding brioche, and I thought it time to learn. You explain it in a way that makes sense to me. (Btw, people who say you talk too much are not listening...you are explaining the why and how which helps with understanding. It's called TEACHING. Can you imagine a teacher who doesn't talk? Lol). Thank you Marly, I am going to follow your three videos and I'm confident I'll have lovely brioche at the end of them. :-D

You are my new best friend. I must have gone through a dozen tutorials and trying 3 hours a day for a week to get this stitch and you finally succeeded in helping me get through this. I think the problem is everyone seems to hold the yarn differently for yarn overs. I kept ending up with too few or too many yarn overs and could never get through 4 rows accurately. I will come back to this many times I am sure to unscramble my brain. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I gave you a shout-out on Instagram too.

Ditto to being exactly like me. I think I can finally tackle my first Artisian Box of Knitcrate with two colors of amazing yarns. One is a dark burgandy and the other a muti-colored minage of grays, burgandandies, etc so georgous that I bought a second box. What a killer combo!!!!!!!!! It was perhaps Mays box, one of their last few Artisan boxes. Honestly, I've been looking [forever, it feels like] to find really clear instruction. #MarlyBird does it once again. Making things simplier and do-able! YAY!!!

I just have to say how awesome this video is! I have watched so many tutorials and everyone does it different, too quickly, uses the terminology but doesn't explain it, etc. But yours actually makes sense and helped me know exactly what I was doing and how to "read" the fabric I just knitted. I'm not a very experienced knitter but have been dying to try brioche ever since I came across it.

This is the best lesson in two colour brioche that I have come across, after having spent two tearful, unsuccessful weeks following various You Tube instructions and other patterns on the Internet. Because Marly knits slowly and does many repeats of the complex stitches, and explains the principles over and over again, one has time to copy her and check one's work. Also, she demonstrates both the English and Continental knitting styles. Thank you so much, Marly!!!

Fantastic tutorial - being able to read knitting is an important skill, I would say a critical skill for a knitter. You make me want to learn to knit continental it looks so elegant XD And even more I am going straight to tackling the brioche, before this I thought it was so complicated, but you've removed the fear :) Awesome work Marly Bird *subscribed*
@MarlyBird6 жыл бұрын
Hi Lea! I totally agree with you about reading your knitting being a critical skill. I say the same thing in all my knitting classes I teach :). Also, like you I was afraid to knit brioche because it looked so complicated. Also, all the ways other teachers taught it confused me more. It wasn’t until I got a book, broke down instructions, understood what the stitches were to look like, how they were made and what the instructions were telling me to do, that I finally was able to figure out how to knit brioche. I always felt like others were in the same boat I was and wanted to create a video that taught people in the easiest way possible. Your comment means a lot to me. Thank you for taking the time to leave it and I am so happy you’ve subscribed. Xoxo Marly

@@MarlyBird you're so welcome - not everyone is blessed with the gift of teaching such as yourself. I have been a thrower/english style knitter since I was little and learning from my grandma. But always looked with envious eyes at continental knitters haha it looks so swift and graceful to me. The trouble I have is getting the tension correct in my left hand, for me that is the hard part! It either comes out super baggy or super tight D: I have made a goal to knit this scarf not only in broiche but in continental style as well, all I need to do is watch your video alot haha and practice!!! Thanks for taking the time to comment, :D xxx

this is very complicated for a slow learner like myself, even though I am at intermediate level. If you make a mistake, I would imagine it would be very confusing to fix it for a knitter like myself. Please give instructions for frogging a few rows and how get back on track again. Thanks!

Hello, I love your videos. Thank you. I don't understand why a (sl1, yo) is the same as the (yo,sl1)? Won't that change the appearance of the final fabric? Or are you just calling the steps out in a different order? Thank you
@MarlyBird6 жыл бұрын
In the video, I described how the actual action for Sl1, yo if a simultaneous action. You have to move the yarn to the front as if you are preparing for the YO and then as you slip the next stitch you also move the yarn over the top to position it to back again while also making a YO.

Hi there ! Iike the video too, it is just I am an absolute beginner ,and I don't really get, how I should continue after row 8. I know I should do the same lines over and over, but could please some help me understand , which rows are those? And then also, 2 rows make a pair, so that is why I need to turn my work after I completed two rows, right? Thank you! :)
@MarlyBird6 жыл бұрын
Hello ;) You are correct, the two rows make a pair and that is why you turn the work after both rows are worked. Make sure that the tail of both colors are on the same side before you turn (that is a little trick I use). Have you watched the other videos? There are 3 total for this pattern.

I have watched this about five or six times and there are still some things that do not work out. Especially when you are ending the row. I don't know if you are doing that last knit stitch by leaving the working yarn in front or returning it to the back before actually doing the knit stitch. I have cast on this project four times already and it still doesn't seem to make sense.

I can't see the edges in the video. Does Knitting 2 rows to form 1 make the clean selvedge edge that slipping the first & knitting the last does or should I be adding an extra stitch to allow for a slipped first stitch or will the colour changes look messy if I slip the fist stitch?
