@racerguy9483
@racerguy9483 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah we've won some races with the Burris 33's as well. But also using aggressive prep. If you like those you should also try the Hoosier D10's on low bite tracks. Especially if it's not an abrasive track.

Well as great of a video as this is, i was expecting more of a demonstration, like going through the resurfacing, cutting, inside prepping, outside prepping, sizing, using a hot box and stuff like that, the info was pretty good vut title and thumbnail definitely misslead me.

Do you run a heat lamp or hot gun on tire as it is spinning with inside tire prep?
@racerguy9483

I'm not sure how Andrew does it. But I wouldn't think it would need any heat if it's on a roller. Unless it's just really cold.

Thank you for your info. Which item is much better between 'Insanity' and 'Tire Power' on racing track? I usually drive Bmw m2 on circuit.
@racerguy9483
@racerguy9483 4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't really know the answer to that. I'm guessing if you drive a BMW M2 you are racing road course on asphalt. And I'm completely unaware of what tire you would be running. I've only used Insanity, but I know Tire Power is a softener, but I'm not sure how aggressive it is or what you need without seeing your tires after a run. I would buy some small quart cans and experiment a little depending on what your tire wear looks like without prep. You just don't want to trash a set of tires unless you have a lot of them to use by over prepping them.

How long do Burris slicks last? Years or just a few races?
@racerguy9483
@racerguy9483 2 жыл бұрын
Well there's a lot of variables in there. One of the biggest is the racing surface. Burris can last longer than Maxxis sometimes because of their shape. But no tire is going to last years and still be fast over new tires. I would say if you get a few races out of a set of tires you did pretty good.

How you made it roll so good and any set ups would be awesome we run low bite tracks
@racerguy9483
@racerguy9483 2 жыл бұрын
@@codythunberg614 Have you watched my How I tune My Kart at the Track Video? I think I go over a lot of it there. But to get it to roll through the center is basically getting the balance right on the kart. I know my driving style and what I want. Then I know what to change on it to get it to drive that way. There's really no secrets/ tricks to any of this stuff. But my Rear was usually 54% Left 56% and cross58- 60%, 60% being my baseline. Low Bite tracks I usually raise my rear % a little and raise my weight higher and to the left. I also ran soft tires around 45 on the duro. You can raise the rear tire stagger to help the kart roll through the center too. But I usually find I keep the standard 1.5" on the front and 3/4 -1" on the rear. I adjust handling more with tire pressure. Just make your adjustments in the order of Entry 1st. Center 2nd, Exit 3rd. That will help you not dial yourself out. I hope that helps!

I really don't know what tires are good right now. I haven't raced karts in 3 years and tires can change a lot in that amount of time. I did feel like in this region every time we ran good on that type of track, our tires were punching around 48 on the durometer. We ended up running a lot of Hoosiers at that time. But we also ran and had good success with all the other brand too.

How often do you need to prep the inside of the tire?
@racerguy9483
@racerguy9483 3 жыл бұрын
That is a good question. And as simple as this sounds I would say, as often as needed. The trick I think for tires is to have plan on what you are trying to achieve. Just throwing chemicals at them isn't going to help. That being said I think we all are guilty of over prepping tires. I would also get in the habit of keeping constant inside prep in mine. But I eventually learned the type of tire really changed the way it's prepped. So if you are running Maxxis you might be fine keeping the insides wet if you need to soften the tire to get it to fire for example. Cobras, Vegas, or Hoosiers you may be better off with no inside prep depending on what tire or compound it is. And the type of dirt also makes a difference. I know this video is mostly Maxxis tires. I liked my Maxxis tires around 45 points, I would take a set at 45 and a set at 55 and I would hot lap/ practice on those if I could, and that would usually tell me where I wanted to be at for the heat race if it was a new track I've never been at. Same thing if it was another brand. I would start with something around 42-45. Hope that helps!

@@racerguy9483 definitely helps. I just bought my first cart and know nothing about em. The track I'll be racing at is real sandy and seems to dry out fast.
@racerguy9483
@racerguy9483 3 жыл бұрын
@@migratorygame7400 Oh cool! Just remember to have fun and keep it simple. especially at the beginning. That's when it's really fun for sure. And sandy dry tracks are usually abrasive and need a harder tire. Usually anyway. That could be a track where tires tend to fall off quicker. That's what I would be looking for if I showed up to race there for the first time.

Im sorry but it is not a tire game. I have been racing for almost 30 years now and run tires longer than just about anyone else at the track, i prep tires very little and usually the morning before a race. i get tires from teams that plan on trashing them and use them for 5 more races! i have ran tires till the wire is showing. I have won local, state and national level races with chassis and air pressure adjustments. Tires and prep is an expensive game that I thin too many people have gone deep down the rabbit hole on... Hahaha it does happen! That's why I personally run Hoosier tires if it's open tire rule most of the time. I like having different tire compounds available right out of the wrapper with little or no chemical prep. Vega and Burris also do as well. It just all comes down to race strategy. Everyone has their own way of approaching a race for sure. To me that's what makes racing fun and interesting!
