I have 9 twelve hole ocarinas. Three of them are plastic, and the rest are ceramic. However, my first ocarina was one of those 3 plastic ones, and now that one doesn't work... It was a cheap one that I found online. 7 of those 12 hole ocarinas are from STL, though, so you might be able to tell that I'm a loyal customer of theirs. I'll never look back at those cheap ocarinas from the internet now that I found STL. STL is one of the best out there when it comes to ocarinas.

I say go with Songbird Ocarina, Fokalink (Stein) Ocarina’s, or Pure Ocarinas. All of those brands give you amazing quality for the price. While all of these companies are in my opinion amazing all around, Pure Ocarinas are the most innovative, easy to play, and ergonomically pleasing ocarinas I have ever had the pleasure of playing. If you’re wanting a multi chambered ocarina, then you HAVE to go with a Focalink (Stein.) Songbird ocarinas tend to have a very pure tone, and boast beautiful high ends. Anyway, I hope this is helpful to anyone out there getting started. I remember being a little overwhelmed when I first started playing, but believe me, after you get started it’s so worth it!

You would have a super easy transition to Ocarina if you already play clarinet :)

This is so much fun. I looked at the reviews and stuff and I put a decent strap on it, my ocarina, and I’m glad I did too because it slipped right out of my hands right off… maybe I’ll just stick to songs that have low notes… Thanks for starting at the very beginning. I didn’t know what an ocarina was till I stumbled across one on the Internet about a week ago, it was so intriguing I had to buy one right away… I figure buy one first research later… Anyway I’m enjoying myself and I’ll try to pay attention and practice

How do you make the vibrato? My notes sound very straight and recorder-like. Thank you for the video! Super easy to follow!

Good question. I'll be making a tutorial soon on how to do vibrato!

Thanks for the video! I was wondering how you make the half notes? C#, D# etc?
@GinaLuciani4 жыл бұрын
I will do a video on that soon hopefully. I'm currently trying to just cover the basics, but sounds like you are more advanced! Here is a fingering chart from STL to get you started though: cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0103/7756/0119/files/12tenorC.pdf?6821

There is a recording on naxos with the toronto chamber orchestra directed by kenneth malon of Leopold Mozarts or Edmund Angerer of the toy symphony or cassation in G where the ocarina is used!

Hi Gina, Isa here :) I just got my Ocarina. Its COOL !!!! I used your code and I got a Tenor Brio. I absolutely LOVE it and your tutorials are awesome. Ill have to add it to my Practice planner that you made. I can see how these weird instruments can be addicting and a nice break from flute. The sounds and the colors are so fun. My daughter says I have to learn a Zelda song now. lol :)

Double ocarina? Those might be a bit harder for me to play than single chamber ("Normal") ocarinas because of the switching between chambers for higher notes, and it would be even harder than that with a triple...

Hello there Gina, I have literally this week bought an STL ocarina, it’s the double max range pendant and although I sort of understand the fingering, could you ask the company to come out with a new finger chart as it’s a little confusing, thanks. Well done on your new collaboration
@GinaLuciani4 жыл бұрын
That's so cool! Sorry I somehow am just seeing this now. Have you been able to sort out the fingering chart? If not, I'll make sure to let STL know!
