Man, this has also been one of my go-to tricks in the last 15 years too! Simple, high impact, great plot, impromptu and multiple moments of magic. Pro-tip if you're feeling especially sneaky: do a top change at the end and then say, "Have you ever watched 'Back to the Future'?" and reveal the card again. It might be anti-climatic, but for those spectators who are familiar with the DL and talk about how they know the tricks is done, watch them turn over the card and be fried! B)

Three things I like about this trick: 1) It's impromptu. 2) It's a free choice with a shuffled deck. 3) It's sexy visual. I've seen a similar trick performed using the "poker shuffle" (sometimes called a "drunken shuffle") to force the four aces, a royal flush, etc, but I love the story about time travel. That photo image is such a stronger effect than seemingly shuffling the cards like an inebriated orangutan and coming up with a good poker hand. Thanks, Jay! Top notch as always.

This is really the best in the hands triumph there is. I have heard some super hard core card magicians who can do about anything with a deck of cards, say the slop shuffle is more deceptive to lay audiences than other kinds of shuffles. The sloppiness of the deck just makes it seem like there is no way you can be controlling the cards. I would only add that it is too bad you gave this one away for free. It is a real worker. But thanks for your generosity Jay.

Its almost like a Triumph Routine, only so much more simple. I don't know if you ever saw Frank Garcia's version of triumph, but he does a wonderful little way of folding the two halfs together and just letting them fall to the table, I always loved that way of reversing the pack, its right infront of you, but so many people miss it. Great work with this, really fun trick for any magician to learn.
@SankeyMagic

That's right. This routine was inspired by Vernon's Triumph + a technique called 'The Slop Shuffle.' By adding the presentation, a simple double-lift, and few key IMAGES - it's become one of my all-time favs. :)

excelent! Im a big Back to the Future fan so i love the idea of time travel! I remember a trick you did a few years ago that was similar where the deck goes back in time to when it was in factory order. That one was a little more visually appealing, but it was harder to do. So i like this one more perhaps because it's simple, very similar, but also interactive :)

I like the presentation. I like the whole flipping the cuts back and forth. Very cool, but that whole slapping the selected card to the back of the deck, that must take a lot of practice, cause most of the time I just loose the card

I need of help here… I when slamming the card into the pack it often drags one extra card above it so after the cut, the selected card ends up second from the top. I know there are other ways of controlling a card to the top but I really love this idea and want to make it work more reliably. Ive got a new pack, I’ve tried gripping from the top, the bottom, looser, tighter…. Does anyone have a tip?

To me the very most important part of this entire lesson, is one of the very beginning you mentioned the specificity with which you insist that the audience member hold the card. And your explanation of the importance of this and the reason to create that call back visual moment at the end. I would suggest that you can take everything else in this entire lesson throw it out set it on fire or whatever change it but that key of setting up the final moment at the very beginning with the powerful visual to call back visual it's more valuable than anything else you explained here.
