I love your detailed explanations, with nuance (eg sarcasm, feminine, endearing, etc). Thank you so much for this. Learning to speak Japanese for living in Japan and speaking my partner's language, and I can't get all these nuanced explanations elsewhere-- even from friends or my partner! Super helpful.

The 野 Kanji means Field which works as I imagine you find rabbits on Fields. I always thought of "Field rabbit" as a wild Rabbit and translated it in my mind as "Wild Moon Rabbit" Also you can say "Family/Given name" to save on confusion

Thanks, I'm really enjoying these videos!^^ They are helpful. Funfact: Ikuko is the name of Naoko Takeuchi's actual mother (and her father and brother are called Kenji and Shingo).^^

This is off topic, but when I hear the words ‘otosan’, ‘okasan’, ‘onesan’, ‘onisan’, etc spoken in anime and video games, people never seem to say the ‘o’ sound. It just sounds like ‘kasan’, etc. Is the o sound silent on those words, or are they just saying it so fast my English speaking ears can’t hear it?

Sometimes the "O" really is dropped. Kaa-san, Tou-san, Nii-san, Nee-san are all valid and regularly used.

She drops the O because it's honorific. Usagi is casual and brash.

I *think* I did the JP subs for this episode by ear. One of my followers found official JP subs for the eps I did from S and Stars, though and I don't remember where they came from.

Enjoying the videos, but cringe when given such harsh alternatives to Japanese slang.
