Hi Rose, Can you please explain why the word 'okimasu' (wake up, put) comes under 2 different groups even though they sound same and they are written same? And based on what they group these verbs? So, because of this confusion we need to memorize each verb group forms also?
@NihonGoal6 жыл бұрын
Hello! Group 1 Verb: “To put” masu-form: okimasu (置きます)Dictionary-form: oku (置く)Group 2 Verb: “To wake up” masu-form: okimasu (起きます) Dictionary-form: okiru (起きる) As you can see, in masu-form form they are both “okimasu” but the Kanji is different. Also notice the dictionary form, the dictionary form of “to put” is “oku/置く” while the dictionary form of “to wake up” is “okiru/起きる” That's why they are in 2 different verb group. In the textbook, verbs are introduced using the masu-form, so I suggest that you also memorize the dictionary form, this way you can identify in which group a verb belongs to. Hope this helps 🙂
