Hi! Thanks for another video! Why is it that when you decline an invitation, you use the phrase that you're glad you came to the place where you are? ここに来て、良かった。 I didn't understand the logic behind the refusal. Why is it that saying “I'm glad I came here” is a way of declining an invitation? 🤔

I asked AI. It said that phrase expresses contentment being at the current location. So if you're happy where you are then there's no reason to go. It's very indirect.

Oh, sorry for the confusion. The phrase "すいません、その日は用があって行けません" is used to decline an invitation. "ここに来て良かった" is a separate example sentence.
