Thanks so much for clarifying that sometimes the "ra" is left off from "rareru". I was watching another video where it listed the potential form of "kuru" as "koreru", but everywhere else I saw it listed as "korareru". It was driving me nuts. This is the first place I found my answer! Would be nice if the other lesson metioned this "little" detail. I mean if you're going to take it upon yourself to teach, teach right and be thorough! I really appreciate the meticulousness of your lessons!

Best video that summarises everything I needed... Others are always leaving simple yet important information out, and it pissed me off because I couldn't understand it on a global way. Thank you so much, love from France
@KANJILink10 жыл бұрын
Xiao Lung わかります means « understand » (for example, 日本語 が わかります = I understand Japanese). わかっています is the continuous form of わかる, and it means that you already know that information. It is not very polite (« you don’t need to tell me, I already know that! »). And yes, the dictionary form is the same as the casual “non-past” (present/future) form! So たべる can mean “to eat, I eat, you eat, he eats, she eats, we eat, they eat, I’ll eat, you’ll eat, he’ll eat, she’ll eat, we’ll eat, they’ll eat”!! ^^

thank you very much! :) so 'te' form plus iru or imasu makes the present countiuous, like "I am talking".
@KANJILink10 жыл бұрын
Exactly! はなす = to talk, I talk, you talk, she talks... And はなしている (or more politely はなしています) = to be talking, I'm talking, you're talking, she's talking...! ^^

Could you tell me the difference between 'wakarimasu' and 'wakatte imasu'? I heard that the second is polite present, but in many other vids I saw the use of a simple -masu ending. Also, is the dictionary form, like taberu or nomu already a present tense?

すみますん。 how is 寝られる the passive form different from 寝られる the potenial form?
@KANJILink11 жыл бұрын
You're right, group 2 verbs have the same conjugation for the passive form AND the potential form! You would need the context to know which one it is. But usually, we take out the "ra" at the potential form, so you would rather have 寝られる for the passive and 寝れる for the potential. Hope this helps!^^

So it would be "mirare masu ka?" (G.2 verb Miru-to look/see) as in "can you see( it)?"

Sounds right to me. So in casual form will it be " mirareru/mireru"?
