Although the content of the lyrics is difficult even for Japanese people, I believe that everyone will enjoy it more if they know even a little bit about it.

This video is amazing. There’s so much depth to this song that I didn’t know it had. Been listened to it for over 40 years since I was a kid and only now got some sense of how much depth it actually holds. Thank you ❤

Thank you. Your words are encouraging! .... I actually realized that my current marketing on KZbin was very bad and needs to change.

WAY back in 1984, I bought the vinyl record of "Tokyo Tapes" by the German band Scorpions. I really love all the songs on that album, but their rendition of Kojo No Tsuki captured my mind. I have loved Kojo No Tsuki ever since. Obviously just their version, but of many versions, and I LOVE the version you picked to help teach the language.

Japanese people do not know that this song is well known in many foreign countries. Some may be surprised to hear the Scorpions' version.

I started to recognize this song during my school days. The rock band Scorpions have been singing it live in Japan since 1978.

0:45 Kojo no Tsuki the proto-J-pop music….

That's an interesting thought. However, it would be more comfortable to think of "Western Music" here as classical music like Lied.

Did the song appear on any samurai movie? I wonder.
@WordsInJapaneseSong Жыл бұрын
You all might think that this song would go well with the BGM for a samurai movie. In reality, however, I don't think it would appear in a samurai movie very often. As background music, this song would be a bit too old-fashioned and would emphasize traditional taste too much.

This song was covered by the German band Scorpions on their 1978 live album "Tokyo Tapes". They turned it into a beautiful rock song.

thanks for your introduction. But, at time 1:57, it is 1868, not 1968, right? appreciate if you can confirm
@WordsInJapaneseSong Жыл бұрын
Thanks for pointing that out! You are right, 1868 is correct.

Many of you have heard this song if only for the melody. How well known is it in your country?

I grew up in Hungary and remember listening to it at school (most schools follow the Koday method and world music is included in the education) also we had an album at home we often listened to that featured this song, the album was Moonlit Castle, Melodies for shakuhachi and harp by John Singer and Paul Hurst. I was about eight years old when we got it and remember the whole family really enjoyed listening to it. Sorry about the long answer and thank you for the upload.

I imagine a happy family listening to music together. It is interesting that it is also heard in Hungary. Thank you!
