Learn Java Tutorial 1.33- GridBagLayout and GridBagConstraint

In this Java tutorial we'll learn how to organize our component (buttons, checkboxes, etc) within our panel. There are a few different organization Layouts we can use, but in this tutorial we will learn about gridbaglayout and gridbagconstraint. Welp, that should cover it ya grid bags.

wow thank you for this good tutorial. I had used gridbagconstraints before but never knew how to use insert. Less more did I knew that you could put what type of layout you'll want to use like a parameter. I always thought that the panel object was lazy so I unfortunately fired the him :/ But today mr.Panel is warmly welcomed ;)

how come when you do gbc.insets = new Insets.... the first insets isn't capitalized but the second one is? I didn't think java would allow that?

it's not that comfortable that you need to reasign the "gridx" and "gridy" values" every time you add a new object to the panel. is there a more comfortable way to it? for example - giving the coordinates as parameters to the "add" function.

Exactly panel1.add(button1, gbc(5,3)); would make much more sense.

This is the only video I have watched on your series as I needed a tutorial on the GridBagLayout as I have a problem and it is still not solved. When I change the gridx and gridy coordinates, it does not seem to change the position of the component on the panel... Does anybody know why this is? Please help me I have been trying to solve this for ages :(

How do you make objects appear on the left side of the window? when you put zero on the 'x' its still appears for some reason in the middle of the window.. thanks

Because it's centered. Try doing BorderLayout.WEST instead of BorderLayout.CENTER
