Thanks once again for the video. Is "neuter" trisyllabic or disyllabic in the Ecclestical pronunciation? Also, do you have any thoughts about how Gregorian chant should be sung? From what I've observed, I don't think the notation works with elision and a silent final M. Perhaps you would be interested in making a video about it.

The syllabic scansion is the same in all Latin pronunciations, so disyllabic. Indeed, elision is done differently.

@@landofw56 Based on Wiktionary and the Online Etymology Dictionary, the root seems to be Germanic, coming from a Proto-Germanic *tred-, which they trace back to a PIE *der- "to run, to walk, to step". While on the other hand, Latin "tradere" is from the same root as English "drag", which is PIE *dhregh-. However, there is not complete consensus on this etymology for "tradere". What is your source for the claim that "trade" comes from Latin "tradere"?

@@hr473 "mihi" does in fact come from the same root as English "me"! But see my other comment for "trade". Seems like etymologically, "trade mihi" would be something like "drag [it] to me" :D
