I really appreciate all who are seeking. It's proven to me to be worth more then all the riches in the world. I've got a couple of siblings that are millionaires and I don't associate with them because they just don't get it. To seek, regardless. Just go about your business no matter what it is. Simple, to have a relationship requires communication (communion). In order to understand each other you have to speak the same language. It's a matter of the heart. Know this God's guarantee is He knows your heart. He will always meet you half way. Like you He don't play. God's language is His Word. I have read it. I can never stop reading it. I believe in order for my spirit to understand God's Holy Spirit we have to be speaking the same language, His Word. I never knew the process was called Lectio Divina. And I'm not even Catholic. I don't believe in religion. I believe in God, His Son my Savior, His Holy Spirit my Comforter and His Word my Sword.

Before do Lectio Divina, do a prayer from your heart and always do a prayer to the Holy Spirit. You need to recognize the presence of God before starting the reading. You need to practice Lectio Divina everyday and practice will help you to go deeper in this beautiful prayer. Don't give up, you will learn many things if you continue trying.

Getting to know God is similar to getting to know another person...familiarity comes through conversation and interaction. Over time, one will know much more about the person. The prophet Samuel is an example. When young, the voice of God would call him, but he didnt know whose voice it was. But he remained in service to God for years. As an older man, he had become the one able to hear and communicate the voice of God.

I am a bit confused. My understanding of lectio devina is there are not really steps so much as elements or aspects of it but that a person can actually begin their lectio devina practice at any stage of those elements. I also was told that there are 4 elements and not 5. The fifth thing you mention in this video I never have heard was a part of this method of prayer. I just was told that the culmination of LD prayer was just to be in the presence of God without really an agenda, but your step 5 seems very agenda focuses so it's confusing. LD seems like a very wonderful way of prayer but there are so many conflicting approaches to how one should do this and the teachers of it do not really help that much either. This makes me feel that the confusion this creates probably is one of the greatest reasons more people are not making this truly transformative way of connecting more fully to the word.

Yahshua - you know Him as Jesus - was born to a virgin, turned water to wine, taught, healed the sick, raised the dead, casted out demons, walked on water, calmed the storm, and fed a crowd of thousands with a few fish and a few loaves of bread, among many other things. He was killed on the cross as payment for the sins of all mankind, three days later He rose from the dead. Forty days later He ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father. He is returning very soon, but before He does, Satan, the devil, is coming to pretend to be Jesus/God (2 Thessalonians 2:1-4). Satan is an angel, and he will have certain supernatural powers with which to try to fool everyone. He will, for example, be able to make fire come down from heaven in the sight of men. He will only be on earth a short time before the real King of Kings, Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, returns. When the real Jesus comes we will all be transformed into our spiritual bodies at the same moment. Jesus came in the flesh to offer forgiveness of sins and eternal life to anyone who believes and calls on His precious name!! if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. - Romans 10:9 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor. When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always. For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her. - Matthew 26:6-13 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon... To anoint your self, the sick, or a building for spiritual protection: Get a small bottle of olive oil and pour off a small amount into a smaller vessel like a vial or baby food jar. Use the rest of the bottle for cooking. Ask the Lord to bless your vial of oil in Jesus name. Anoint yourself with the oil by placing a dab of oil on tip of finger and touch it to your forehead, and ask the Lord to bless you/heal you. Place a dab of oil on your finger and anoint the door posts and order all negativity and evil out of the house, and order that nothing negative or evil can enter into your home including piggybacking on a person entering, order it to be so in the name of Jesus. Anoint all potential entrances to your home. To anoint the sick, place oil on tip of finger and touch it to the head of the sick and say a prayer of healing over them in Jesus name. See James Chapter 5:14-15........

This is not a Biblical practice. Jesus never taught this- its a Catholic ritual. The lady said she couldnt pray- I suggest she needed good Bible teaching and exegesis- when you know you are saved your mouth will pray Biblically and the Spirit will lead you- read the Psalms David teaches you- this practice is not glorifying to God

@awaitthegroom I am not Catholic, however this is not a ritual and it is not Catholic. Lectio divina is a technique or lesson (from Latin "Lectio") on how to read the Scripture and ask for guidance from God through the Holy Spirit. It started back in 3rd Century AD and was practiced by many monastic orders, mainly Benedictine, many centuries before the Reformation (meaning when the only schisma was between Eastern and Western Church). Could you better specify what is exactly unbiblical about it?

edoardo caporaso this is a rote prayer practice. It is not a relationship prayer. It is legalistic, systematic and treats the Holy Father like far off God. Father God says all those who are his children can call him Abba father (daddy) a very personal and loving endearment. It says that all those who are His children can come BODLY to the throne of grace. Esther is a great example to us. We have, as His children, a right to come before His throne boldly and ask Him and discuss or worship Him. He delights for His children to come. He says to come to Him just as we are, he wants us spend time with him and work things out with Him. He wants an honest relationship. He knows our hearts and wants us to be honest with him. To wrestle with him like Jacob did. He wants to talk with you through His entire word. Read His word, keep reading His word, study it, move through many scriptures in your time with him, dig into different words to find the original meanings, study with others in bible study, talk with Him as you move though your day! I would actually feel so unloved and disconnected if my husband sat down for a set time and talk with me in this routine way wouldn’t you? Jesus Christ is alive and moving all day all night. My relationship with him is exciting and fresh and fun. Yes sometimes my life is hard but He is there in the midst of that too! Please don’t be fooled to believe there is a formula to God. He can not be put in a box. May I suggest you just read through the entire book of Acts to see a glimpse of what Jesus has for you! Ask Holy Spirit to open your eyes to see and then read with an expectant heart and watch what God will do!! May God start you on an amazing path in your Christian walk! God Bless You!

Non catholic here. This Comment is a good example of how much the protestants uplift the bible sometimes more than God, Jesus and the actual meanings of the Bible itself. We Protestants threw away a lot of the good stuffs when we came out and LD was definitely one of them. Even if it's a ritual so what? Jesus followed Jewish rituals too.. You think Jesus was a Christian? Or the Bible precedes Jesus? I'm a non catholic and a lot of us in our church practise LD and it really helps us to Grow in Christ. And if it helps us grow in Christ, I'm sure it's good for us and good in the eyes of God.

Sound Therapy What Lectio Divina is is reading and contemplating the Scriptures and then focusing on God’s presence. What exactly is wrong with this? By your argument, Jesus also didn’t say anything about using guitars during worship, praying the Sinner’s Prayer, etc. I could go on, but you get the point. This is a great way to contemplate God’s Word and how the Spirit of God speaks to us. Sure, Jesus didn’t say anything to pray like this, but he also didn’t say anything about reading the Bible or at all, but we all do. Hopefully you get my point.

@@jts8714 the purpose of lecto divina is communicate with God and gain spiritual insights. emptying your mind and listening to the "voice" you said its about focusing on Gods presence. So whats the big deal? I will tell you. Where in the Bible it says to do that? empty your mind. focus on His presence. You are going beyond scripture. Using pagan prayer methods and christianizing it. The SCRIPTURE is sifficient, authoritative and final. So if someone, like a pastor, lecto divinas and hears a"voice" and teaches what he hears to his congrepation although not in the Bible like all the things you mentioned, will you follow this persons teaching? Is all Scripture God breathed, living and active or is this person's voice in his head? Or your head for the matter?

@@BibleSamurai after reading your comment I have been watching again this video and actually can't find anything of what you mention. Lectio divina was used by benedectine monastic order way before the Reformation, therefore it is not a Catholic teaching. Furthermore there is nothing unbiblical at all about meditate on the scripture contemplate and pray over it asking guidance from God through the Holy Spirit. Could you give us more insight of a more correct and biblical way to read the Scriptures?
