Thank God for all heroes! A guy I went to high school with died 5 months after graduation in 1966 in the Loop Fire in the Angeles national Forest. One of 12 El Cariso HotShots who died. Such a loss to their families and to all of us for what might have been!❤️🙏

As a retired 10 year Intial Attack/Helli firefighter in the Rockies, we had it pretty easy compared to US Hotshot crews. I’ve worked with US Hotshot crews in Canada and they were a good, hardworking group.

Hi everyone. I am pretty new to the wildland firefighter scene. I have taken a few intro courses online at NWCG and plan to attend the Wildfire Academy in Arizona in March. I also just recently got my EMT and have taken a bunch of Incident Command classes. I am looking to move to the Phoenix area in the next few months as well. I applied to the BLM a couple months ago and I am trying to figure out how to get in touch with crews to see if they are still hiring? Any ideas? Any advice in general would be much appreciated. I reached out to the BLM Phoenix office but havent heard back. Just trying to figure out the best way to get experience and get on a crew
@MrNicschulz4 жыл бұрын
Usajobs.com can tell you alot about who's still hiring and if you have applied for the blm chances are you've been there keep checking your email they will tell you if you been referred to the hiring manager or as such I hope this helped you out also I'm pretty sure theres state agencies down that way I would check online and start researching hope the best for ya

I am a type 1 diabetic and am constantly thinking of a way to get involved in this kind of job. Currently aspiring to be a firefighter paramedic but would like to experience a season of this atleast once in my life. Though keeping insulin cool in such austere environments is the only challenge for someone like me. I have tremendous respect for anyone who is able to do this job and any further information regarding what it is like or possible solutions for my problem that would only come from having actually worked in such a position would be greatly appreciated.

Go to USAjobs.gov apply for GS-3 Forestry Technician Positions. Tell then waaaaaaay to much detail on your résumé. Just trust me. Call to where you apply... Pro tip: wanna most likely get a job? Go and apply to R5 jobs (California positions) region 5 is desperate for man power and they’ll take rookies. Be persistent you’ll get it. But you’re gonna have to want it.

What do you want to know about how to get started as in the certifications you need, I'll tell you, fastest way to get it done join your local volunteer fire department they will pay for you to take S130/S190 and if they are an EMS department you'll get your EMT which the makes you more marketable to Wildland crews
