Learn Morse Code - Lesson 8

Today we learn 3 new letters - B, Z, and V.
This is the final lesson on learning letters. We CONTINUE ON to numbers AFTER THIS LESSON.
These videos should be watched in sequential order as they are additive and build on each other.
BEFORE you watch this video, WATCH THE PRIOR VIDEO as a refresher to the previous set of NEW characters.
Continue on with this video for about a week to get the characters memorized and perfect. INSTANT CHARACTER RECOGNITION IS THE KEY!
As mentioned in other videos, if you want to really learn Morse Code, check out CW Ops or Long Island CW Club....
... but if you dont want to commit and want to take a casual - no commitment approach to learning - this might be a good way to go.

Your keying an occasional mistake is very helpful for us! Thank you for the alphabet. It seems that I can dah-dit (in my mind) the words of an outgoing message much faster than I can perceive the words of one coming in (Casey At The Bat, for example). Is this the usual experience?

This is very common and natural. It will always be easier to send than it is to receive. Keep practicing and it will get better!

I learned Morse Code years ago. Today I am going to tap out an SOS here. Why? Morse code was dropped 10 years ago!!!!

Indeed... it was phased out of maritime and military communications. Right now it's seeing s resurgence in the ham radio community as a fun mode of operation with a bit of nostalgia

What does "BK" mean? If they are run together sometimes....

That means back to you... Or that you are turning over the qso. Some people run it together, or put a half space between the B and the K

After years of holding my Canadian Basic w Honours qual, I just received my Advanced rating. When i did my CW test we had to pass 5wpm for Basic. I venture down into the CW part of the spectrum and try to copy on 40m. This series has helped me with my nemesis letters, for some reason those are G and Y.😂 Thanks for this thorough review. VE3NAP

YOU SHOULD MEANTION THAT BEETHOVENS 5TH HAS THE SAME TUNE AS THE SOUND OF THE LETTER "V" WHICH IS "5" IN ROMAN NUMERALS. ALL VERY STRANGE.
