Are you looking for a way to learn, or practice Morse code? The CW Hotline might be a great option for you. This multi-functional device is an easy-to-build kit that will connect you with other people who want to learn. You can use it as a stand-alone practice oscillator, connect to VBand, or simply connect directly to any of your friends who also have a CW Hotline in service.
In this video I walk you through the kit build, configurations, and then demonstrate how easy it is to connect with a friend and start sending and receiving Morse code.

Just finished my kit today. This is a game changer for vband because it eliminates any local delay. Read the instructions all the way through before starting. Take your time to get the case drilling correct and have small files on hand. (I struggle mechanically.) Setup was easy. Yes, pick the USB serial connection, not the other one. Kit components are top notch. Feel like I got a bargain. Manual could be a bit clearer in places but good nuff. These guys should be commended for their work and support of Morse Code for hams and non-hams alike.

One question I have my dad many years ago was into CW I don’t understand the CW of ham at all I am a tech studying for my general right now but know nothing about CW and was wanting to know if this would help in understanding Morse code and teach my how to use it so I can learn on how to use CW when I want to just asking if it teaches you how to use it I would be very interested in it I have no problem building the unit itself but need help to understanding it and how to use it, does it help a person to learn CW ??? Thanks W9NAF 73
@RedSummitRF
@RedSummitRF 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael - I think that's fantastic that you are going for your General and that you want to know more about CW. This box is more of a tool to supplement your learning program. If you want to learn CW, this box will not train you. Rather it is a platform you can use to practice what you learn. If you want to learn CW, do an internet search for "Long Island CW Club" or "CW Ops CW Academy". They offer free classes. You might also try using cell phone apps to begin learning your letters. I hope this helps.

Honestly, I bet they would assemble one for you if you reached out to them via their support email. If you do follow that suggestion and they say no, I'll help you out. But yes, it would be nice if they sold a few already assembled. I bet they could find some volunteers to put them together. Not sure if they could handle the work load that it would demand themselves, though, since it's just a 2 man show.
