I'm going to color my MA's so I too will notice them more. I really think this is an excellent discovery. I have noticed strong support and resistance at those long MA's. Great job, as usual, explaining so thoroughly!

Thanks for sharing! Your observations are solid. They represent the best SURE levels for sure. You'll also begin to see strength in how they 'expand and contract' (Death and Golden Crosses).

oooh, I havent heard of Death and Golden Crosses, would love to hear your insight about those. I wish there was anything for SURE in the market. But there really isnt. Anything can happen. I try to use MA's support as confirmation with other indicators. Whenever I use them on their own, I am often wrong. We have to put sooo many bits of information together to make a smart trade.

This is very eye opening! It seems like the price of the stock doesn't react very much in the first hour or so and so the best time to take these trades are past 10:15am. I think I'm gonna try coming on at around 10:15am and see how it goes. I much prefer taking trades using VWAP and MA's instead of other methods like ORB's. Thank you very much for this video!

Hope this helps, but dont trade completely on the MA's alone. Make sure you have a good risk reward setup around the MA entry point you see.

Ma’s are very helpful... I use them in my long term stuff, but I use more of them .. for that I use 9 and 20 ema .. 50, 100, 200, 300, 400, & 500 sma. Try charting those on the daily and see what you get... it’s helped me!

im not sure why i started plotting them but they do tell a better story for swing trading etc.... but i dont use these 3 for day trading .. i must have read something about them quite awhile back. They all do show resistances and supports and remember that the higher the number ma, the stronger the support/resistance

Fantastic stuff. Do you care about the slope of the MAs? During the morning how many tickers are you flipping through when you have no trade/position?
@AdventureDogLA
@AdventureDogLA 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks 59nang. My brain power isnt nearly as good as some of the other traders in the room. I can only watch about 3-4 stocks at a time and even attempt to analyze things correctly. As for the slopes, great question and something I have thought alot about. For example, if I am taking a long based of MA support, I know that the price action can often dip down to test support, and then sky rocket up fast. In that case ideally I want the slope to be increasing so the price is bouncing off a higher level. But again, this is something I am still learning about.

How do you feel about moving averages vs vwap as support/resistance. Obviously moving averages withstand the intraday, but I am seeing people have success with using the vwap deviations (+/- 2 percent std deviation). It’s difficult to keep your chart from looking like a bowl of spaghetti with all those averages, levels, etc...

I lost somewhere, Andrew says moving average is not so strong on 1 min chart but here price respect to it? And should we need to look at all 1min, 5 min, 15min etc for support and resistance for all the trades before execution. Please advise?

Thanks. Do institutions use 50/200 EMA or SMA?
@AdventureDogLA
@AdventureDogLA 5 жыл бұрын
Great question, and like I mentioned I am still learning. I do not know if one is exclusively used over the other for big institutions. I would love some help figuring this out if anyone else has insight? I know Andrew uses and recommends the EMA for the 9/20, and the SMA for the 50/200. That is what I use as well and the levels seem to really be at critical apex points.
@JR-eq6jz
@JR-eq6jz 5 жыл бұрын
Institutions and pros use price and volume. Nothing more. Putting a volume profile on your charts will be eye opening and removing all indicators you will be able to just read the action and momentum of the market/stock you are trading. Any strategy should be back tested with at least 200 samples for each product/stock to see if it makes money over the long term. It's a lot of work, but it will give you confidence to take the trades. 200 EMAs are valuable on daily and hourly charts though.
