Kevin, many thanks for your time and dedication to teaching guitar in such a brilliant way. I've had a guitar since I was 16 (I'm 72 this year) and I think I might now actually learn to play with your guidance. It helps that you cover a LOT of my favourite songs - we obviously share the same musical taste! Keep it coming, please. My very best wishes to you and your two very fine assistants. David

Roger’s 12 string Rickenbacker really sets their version off. What a sound!

Thanks for this lesson on Tamborine man. Listening to the D Sus reminds me of Barry Mcguire’s ‘Eve of Destruction hit.

I'm up to my eyeballs in bluegrass... and as such I find myself immersed in flatpicking fiddle tunes... Salt Creek, Red Haired Boy, solos to Mountain Dew and Long Journey Home, Tony Rice licks.... stuff like that. So ok.. I gotta lot of that down... but I forget there may be some interesting non-bluegrass acoustic stuff, too. Like Robbie's opening to The Weight. And I just found this page, and thought, Mr. Tambourine Man!! Our greatest bluegrass guitar pioneer, Clarence White played with The Byrds! Ditched that D-18 and picked up an electric noise making thing... for awhile. Point is, I'll stop here every once and awhile and deviate from bluegrass 8th notes and learn a non-bluegrass lick or two from you, sir. There are times I wander off and figger out stuff like Guy Clark's opening riff to Dublin Blues, Jerry Garcia's Ripple, Here Comes the Sun, stuff not found in a typical bluegrass jam.

No worries. You are most welcome. The super tanks is a button you can click under the videos here or KZbin. It looks like a heart with a $ sign in it and you can say thanks with a monetary donation. But absolutely no obligation. We appreciate your views and support here on KZbin either way.

The intro sounds "jangly" because it was done on a 12 string electric guitar... probably with a little delay. Love this song. I've been waiting for someone to post a simple lesson on KZbin so I could learn to play it. Thanks!
@Relaxandlearnguitar Жыл бұрын
Happy to gel. Love the jangle! It’s fun to play too!

Roger McGuinn famously played a 12 string Rickenbacker. A very jangly tone indeed.
@geraldscott4302 Жыл бұрын
I practiced that for a long time on a Fender Strat. Roger McGuinn did it on a Rickenbacker 12 string, and a 12 string is the only way to make it sound right. I've never tried to play a 12 string before.
@Relaxandlearnguitar Жыл бұрын
Definitely sounds best on the 12 string
