I agree. It'd be nice to get some updated content too. I learned a little bit a few years back and come back to it now and I imagine we'll get a new influx of learners from the new movie, and it's a shame there's no up to date material for them that I'm aware of - esp. as my language is now super rusty. Why is Na'vi not taught in school yet
@hughmungus996 жыл бұрын
because it's a constructed language for us language nerds and not enough people speak it a for it to be taught in school. And it's not even region specific to anywhere. Like even tho Anishinaabemowin doesn't have a lot of speakers it is still a Native American Language specific to the Great Lakes Region so in some schools especially in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and in some parts of Canada the language is taught in schools. Same with Hawaiian in Hawai'i. It just wouldn't make sense to teach such a small language with no geographical location attached to it. Not until we have schools on Pandora I'm afraid. :(

@lmlmd27142 жыл бұрын
Not solely by learning it (though it will make it easier to learn other languages, which is invaluable). However, if you learn the language intricacies then contribute to the expansion of the vocabulary and grammar as part of the overall language expansion project, following the existing rules of the language then absolutely - same as any other non-profit work, like open source software development. It shows excellent analytical skills, and ability to understand and build complex models and work effectively on a dispersed collaborative project.

***** I've only been studying for a week or so. It's so much fun though, I can't stop wanting to learn it! :D Yes the grammar is very confusing.
@hughmungus996 жыл бұрын
that's because spanish uses fairly common phonology and its kinda hard not to use human sounds in a constructed language if you want humans to be able to speak it. In fact every single vocalized language on this planet has to use at least 1 or 2 sounds from spanish at the least because of how common those sounds are lol.
