Papiamento sounds like Portuguese. A lot of sentences I can realize without English translation. I believe it is because the the first inhabitants moved from Brazil in the moment chat dutch people were retired from Recife. It's amazing to see that signs have been preserving for more than three hundred years.

Exaclty a lot of them Recife pps gone to Curaçao, martinique etc. The heritage is so strong when you look at it deeply. Also there was Dutch/Portuguese/ Spanish /french who was persecuted in their country moved to them islands and mixed with the native awarak from there. That's where the term mulatto coming from, basically its means a mix between a native karib(carribeans pps)/or the ones from brazil to the pps who came from Europe. All that happened near between 1550 and 1690 if you guys wanna get more infos about it. Danki, obrigado, gracias! To teach us papiamento my friend. Much love and peace to everyone ✌🏾

Yes. Papiamentu descends from Upper Guinea Portuguese Creole. They brought slaves from over there to Curaçao in the 17 century.

Mixture of English, Deutsch , spanish, portugués, and Afro languages.

🙋🏾Why not "mixture of EURO languages and Afro languages"? Aren't all the languages you mentioned from Europe? Which "Afro languages"? Why you did not mention any one?🤔

60% of Papiamentu's basic vocabulary is mixed of (Afro-) Portuguese and Spanish.
