Spanish is the same in every Spanish speaking country, one language. The difference is in the accent from each country, idioms, idiomatic frases, and different words that are used to name some of the things. Latin America do not use the second personal pronoun from the plural, "vosotros," Spain do. Also, some countries use "vos" instead the personal pronouns "tú."

I spent $1000 last year with a Spanish teacher and did not learn a thing. She just had a group of four us try to speak Spanish with each other with the little we did know. She never gave comprehensive instruction like this. You are a wonderful teacher. I am enjoying each lesson. I will also make a donation so you can continue to bring this valuable content to your audience.

Now that my ear is more developed I can better hear the spanish words and what distinguishes them. Less hopeless anyway. Thanks for the videos Anna.

Querida Ana, querida profesora: I know you get so many requests for future videos, and after 3 years of watching your videos very often, now I have a request too. I've got this problem I simply can figure out, and I have read a lot of material about this subject, but I just can't get it right when I have to translate from English to Spanish, and I know there is one person in this world who can teach me this, Ana, and she has helped me SO much in many simular situations, and here it comes: I would like SO much to learn how to use "acabar de". I've searched and read about this subject, but I still can't get my head around it. (y)

I recommend you watch Spanish shows like Spanish F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Also try to memorise paragraphs of a topic so you can practice speech and those words stick to your mind. Remember conjugations and. Estar Is for non permanent things and ser is permanent. Hope your holiday to Spain hasn’t been affected at this time however if it is. Use the time to watch some Spanish shows

Great class! One question: Casi se me olvida? O casi se me olvido? Why is olvidar in the 3rd person conjugation if I'm the one doing the forgetting?
@Snowdreamer872 жыл бұрын
I had the same question some time ago and this is what I found: olvidar - forget sg => Olvido mis llaves - I forget my keys olvidarse de - forget about sg => Me olvido de mis llaves - I forget about my keys In both cases you would use 1st person conjugation when talking about yourself. What Ana said, however, is another use of "se". I think, this is the Spanish equivalent of the English passive. In this case, you use "se" + "verb" in 3rd perdon conjugation, singular or plural depending on the subject. se olvida => is forgotten ("it forgets itself") se olvidan => are forgotten ("they forget themselves) This is why 3rd person conjugation must be used in this case. When you also want to add by whom the thing is done, you put that as an object between "se" and the verb. In this case: se ME olvida => it is forgotten by me = I forget it According to this, all three should mean the same or something very similar: Siempre olvidO mi llave. Siempre me olvidO de mi llave. Siempre se me olvidA mi llave. The third structure is the most difficult for Spanish learners but it seems to be loved by native Spanish speakers :)

EXTRA QUICK TIP - The verbs in the infinitive form in Spanish end in "-ar, -er, -ir." The infinitive form in English have a "to" in front. Examples: estar (to be), caminar (to walk), ser (to be), correr (to run), vivir (to live), escribir (to write).

I said, dije: "Hola, ¿cómo están? ¿Bien o mal? ¿Mal? Ni modo. And I think you want to know what "ni modo" is. "Ni modo" does not really have a one-on-one equivalent in English. It is a peculiar Spanish word. I will try to show you how you can use it: "Ni modo" would be like saying, "oh well, nothing one can do", "oh well, it happens." Imagine you are driving, and you missed the exit you needed to take. One thing you can say is "ni modo, tomaré la siguiente, I will take the next one". It is reconforting to say ni modo when something bad happens. I said "ni modo" because I felt I could not do much through a video. Of course, you can add something positive like "todo va a estar bien" everything will be fine". I have noticed some people translate it as "it does not matter" but I think the Spanish version is more subtle. Espero que esto te ayude a entender esa frase. Saludos :))
