Young Royals… I’m really learning Swedish because of it
@pacator173 жыл бұрын
I wonder how many people started learning Swedish because of that fantastic series Young Royals :D I'm Dutch and years ago I went to Sweden for three months (some kind of studying abroad programme). I never really learned Swedish then (except for a few words here and there), but I always loved to hear the language all around me. Young Royals reminded me of this and now I finally started learning it :D

The pronunciation of "God morgon" (like at 5:54) in this video is strange, here the "g" is very hard, but in every other I have listened to, the "g" is very little pronounced, almost inaudible 🤔

The “g” isn’t supposed to be so heavily pronounced. I’m Swedish and we don’t say it like this in Sweden.
@endoraroberts3 жыл бұрын
@@Emma.Leclerc Well, doesn't it depend on where you are in Sweden? Gotland Swedish is much different from Northern Swedish (Västernorrland/Västerbotten) and Malmö Swedish sounds slightly more Danish, no? There's like 6 different dialects or something.
@Emma.Leclerc3 жыл бұрын
@@endoraroberts not many people use that pronunciation at all. Maybe on TV News channels, such as the Swedish versions of BBC (for example, the BBC, though this is a thing that was even more common in the past, use RP, which is a way of speaking that is only used by around 2% of the British population now), so such a way of speaking with such a pronunciation is dying out and is very uncommon. People who learn Swedish are generally taught a more general and widely used accent, often one that fits the Stockholm accent, like with any other language app of course that usually teaches the accent of the capital city. There are many dialects and accents, however that pronunciation of “god morgon” is not used for any of those, it’s only really used for that kind of presenter accent or those few who are possibly from the wealthiest groups in society.

Both languages take alot of practice but are both (once you learn enough) really fun to speak. In other words I think you should try both for a while and see which you feel more attraction to. You'll know after a while, it'll just be like "Yah, I like (language) better." OR you can do both like me but I don't recommend it
