Poor Mary seems to have been burnt to the stick for allegedly "conversing with the dead" herself, or for rumors of it anyway. She's obviously earthbound because of the PTSD from the execution, see how she always runs from fire and the allusive comments she makes about witchcraft, and about what happens to witches. It is so cool how she tries to understand all the modern things in her own words, and she does a great job at it too. She's actually really smart. Gets the gist of cinematography so quickly that immediately becomes a modern time director herself. She's such a great character, very cleverly thought of.

Even though this programme is designed to tick all the boxes, as far as racial diversity is concerned, and with a woman being the driving force with a dim husband, I still quite enjoy it. I hope there is a series 4, and perhaps with more episodes.

The husband isn't shown as being particularly intelligent, whether he can see the ghosts or not. Then we have the mixed race marriage, nothing wrong in that except it's not as common as TV dramas and adverts like to make out.

@@tectorama the way you write "a woman being th drving force with a dim husband" makes it seem like Mike is beyond stupid while Alison does all the thinking. It's a sitcom. they both mess up all the time. Remember the film crew, when Mike was rightly concerned about the state of the room and the amount of people + heavy equipment. "then we have the mixed race marriage" woof, thread lightly. According to data created in 2020 by the Office for National Satistics, about 6%, 799 832, of marriages or cohabiting relationships are mixed race. having one sitcom on BBC where one of the spouses can also see and talk to ghosts be mixed race is not inflating that statistic - if anything it's normalising that kind of relationship, meaning when people see it in every day life they won't be shocked. Kiell Smith-Bynoe and Charlotte Ritchie have a great chemistry besides, and Kiell is an experienced comedy actor.
