Hi Julia: big discovery today in the rink; tying tighter shoe laces produced better progress.

Thanks for sharing, I'll try that next season.

Oh yes, proper lace tying is so essential to good foot connection with the ice.

@CoachJulia What about the upper part of the boot? For me, if it's too tight, it feels as if it hinders movement.

Coach Julia, what is the difference between a forward crossover and a forward progressive run
@midgechickma9 ай бұрын
Also may I ask , what is the last element called--what you termed "tuck in 3, 4 "
@rickr5304 ай бұрын
@@midgechickma It's called a cross-behind. And for your first question regarding progressives vs crossovers, in ice dance you need to keep your feet in a tighter space so that you and your partner don't trip over each others feet, and you want to make the elements look better. So the free leg in a progressive touches the ice just before crossing, and it glides into position over the ice. It stays on the arc, not going as far past as you might with a crossover. The second push is of a progressive is smaller too, to keep the feet closer together. The progressive is also called a run because the feet make more of a running motion than a crossing motion. These differences are subtle and not everyone on KZbin has exemplary ice dance technique.

Any tips on controlling those back steps would be helpful on and off the ice. The first time I tried this dance I was a bit taken back on how deceptive those last 4 steps are.

It's actually quite fun move when you get a hold of it. Make sure you bend your knees, keep blade parallel to ice before you put it, keep feet attached together.

I really love this ! Do you know anything about skating together with a partner and how to hold each other? Would be very nice to see :)

Yeah. I don’t know how to ask the ladies to dance because this information is lacking.
