This was an easy and fun groove to play. I definitely went on a little solo at the end of the play along. 😁 Thank you!

Thank you so much for this video! Of all the cajon players out there, your notation is easiest to read. I appreciate the "play with music" section that you recently added, really helps, although I get lost in the music and lose track of the beat...maybe someway to keep track would help. Thanks again!

Thank you for your words! Glad to know that's helpful for you. After integrating the groove it will be easier to play with the music. Give some time to it, focus on the practice and it will come, I'm sure!
@NickWeissMusic2 жыл бұрын
yep, take your time! this comment is a year old, but if you kept at it you'll have it by now lol. To put this in perspective, I'm a professional bass player, cajon hobbyist although I could play pro if needed, played plenty of salsa grooves, and this took me two or three solid hours over two days of practice to get in with the music. I had the distinct advantage of already understanding the syncopated groove, and it still took hours to make comfortable. Take breaks and spread your practice out, it's important to clear your head when it gets all jumbled and you can't hear the one. If you can't count confidently along with the music, that's where you have to start. If you can count the music confidently, you WILL get the groove with enough practice. it's just straight 8th notes after all, which ones are loud is the only problem lol.

Great video! Something new to practice. :) I am thinking about getting a second cajon. Do you have any videos showing the sound comparisons between the different brands of the standard, box-shaped cajons? I live in a rural area so do not have the opportunity to play before I buy. Currently I have a Sela CaSela and I feel like the snare is a bit lacking for what I want to play. I am hoping to hear direct comparisons between Sela and other brands such as Meinl and Schlagwerk. It would also be interesting to show how the different type of string/snare setups sound when played side by side. Thanks a ton for your videos. I have been playing drums since I was 13 and I am 55 now. Not much chance to play anymore so I bought a cajon. I can play along with the stereo and don't need to blast the volume. Great way to keep playing!

Awesome!! Which is the best cajon for an adult beginner?

Hi Michael, thanks for your comment. Depending of your budget I would suggest the Meinl Artisan Tango line at around $200 or the Snarecraft PRO also around $200. Have a look in the playlist unboxing and reviews - kzbin.info/aero/PL7ywwJyHBakS7IpcrPVfFtI0PNmbLHYTj Let me know which one you like the most, cheers
