Python or C# are 2 really great languages to start with. Python particularly is very human readable, and C# is sort of an easier version of C++ I remember watching a youtube series of introductory c#. It was legit and covered all the basics. Fun language too. Machine learning, .NET, a bunch of other cool stuff, and the Unity3D game engine uses c# scripting to interface with the api. UnrealEngine uses C++ and a visual scripting tool (blueprints)
@py_a_thon3 жыл бұрын
@Keaton Castillo After the introductory level(or brute force learning intermediate level), it seems that learning proper technique and unlearning bad habits is the next major hurdle. Those bad habits are crazy unpredictable if you ever work in any kind of group project, or offer code to the world as a product or an open source-ish repo. And 100% absolutely yes regarding what you hinted upon...that is the point where classes with really good mentors/teachers...jump up in value. Code was always just an obsessive hobby for me though. So I am only providing context and vague suggestions for the path I did not travel. I never had hopes of being an entrepeneur or finding a career. I am just another bored nerd.

One of the biggest problems I faced as being a self taught programmer was what to program. This approach is a curse in disguise as it leads to a top down approach to developing applications. For example, I need a program that does something when a button is clicked so I start by putting a button on the screen, going to the code behind and make it do something. Gratifying as it may be, we end up discarding core principals and fundamentals of application development. I'm not against this approach but after you get your feet wet, please dive into solution/project design (Righting Software is a good book) as well as behavioral patterns; strategy pattern and visitor pattern are going to be the most useful for day to day business application.

Design Thinking and Rapid Prototyping(in the context of CompSci, and not AutoCad) might pair well with the concept of project based learning too. For example: game jams or similar 24/hr or 1 weekend type challenges are fun, ProjectEuler is epic in terms of math puzzles and learning, etc. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Design_thinking projecteuler.net/

Hey Nicole; Awesome motivational vid! I just want to ask - where should a beginner start if they want to make an application? I remember trying to program a simple hello world windows application in C and getting totally lost and unable to compile things. So many headers and concpets that are difficult to ask questions about. What would you consider to be level zero for someone looking to build a project from scratch?

Hey! I would definitely suggest Codecademy's lessons on HTML + CSS - then Some of the basic JS courses. They are free and so informative/easy to understand. C is definitely a very difficult language I personally think you would have a better experience with JS because it is more user friendly

There may have been some troll redirection going on here...just sayin' Trolls have been known to partially disable REAL hate by being fucking offensive on purpose. And I definitely saw a bunch of that going on. Basically...they look so stupid on purpose, that actual racists feel shame and self-reflect. And also, they get to bitch about leftism and censorship. And yeah, some actual and real racism was all on these comments too. Absolutely.
