This video is about how to catch crab at Nehalem Bay on the Oregon Coast. Nehalem Bay is considered one of the best places to learn to Crab. Nehalem Bay State Park & Campground offers camping & a boat ramp. There are also two Crabbing establishments on Nehalem Bay, where you can rent whatever, you need. Kelly’s Brighton Marina (503) 368-5745, and Jetty Fishery (503) 368- 5746. They both offer package deals, including everything you’ll need, whether crabbing from the dock, or renting a boat. They include the Crab Rings, and the Bait. You can also purchase your State Crab License, and camp or rent RV space at either Establishment.

I have never crabbed there because Newport is only an hour away from me, so I just go to the pier by Rouge. I usually do pretty good there even when the crabbing isn’t great for Dungeness I still get rock crab.

Great family video content. You might consider an inexpensive wired lapel (lavalier) microphone that plugs into your camera to improve the voice quality. There are even some $25 wireless lav mics on Amazon! By the way - i absolutely love the Tri-Cities. Thanks!

I like Kelly's but they have one of the worst launch ramps. I'd rather launch in Wheeler but you really have to pay attention to the tide. I used to go to the Jetty Fishery (just down the road).

Catch shad at Camas in June and freeze it for the best crab bait. Turkey legs work well also. The prices they get for boat rental with gear is atrocious, too much to pay for leaky boats and rusty gear.
@everybitoutdoors
@everybitoutdoors Жыл бұрын
I totally agree! We’ll be shad fishing below McNary Dam. Shad is also our favorite choice for crab bait.

Never tried those area’s. Being closer to the incoming saltwater tides is a good rule. To much fresh water discourages crab from entering, although they do, but not like saltwater.

How long should my rope be ?
@everybitoutdoors
@everybitoutdoors 2 ай бұрын
Depends on the tide! To be safe 25 feet of lead core rope should be ok even during high tide. You want lead core rope so it will sink. Some rope will float on top of water and may get caught in boater’s engine prop.
