Wow, I can't believe you sketched that portrait of yourself in 15 minutes.....absolutely brilliant Brandon!!! So, I'm assuming that when you say "values" that it refers to "shading"? I'd like to see a video on how to figure out where shading goes on a focal point (focal point could be anything. Oh, and Brandon, I feel very privileged that a true artist is giving us his valuable time to help out beginners. Not only are you giving us invaluable lessons on how to draw, but your encouragement is overwhelming to me. You make me feel like I can do it and no one has ever been able to do that for me before. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Brandon!

I realize these are older videos, but I am just getting started. That drawing is amazing and it just makes it even more so knowing you did it in 15 minutes! You have taught me a lot so far, I am looking forward to learning a lot more from you. I am interested in learning anything outdoors, animals, scenery, (no buildings), nature, things like that. I started a photography class years ago, however the instructor was inappropriate and I quit, did manage to get a photo published in a book by the National Library of Photography though. Anyway, I would have gone to school for this, however, don't trust instructors in person anymore. Thanks for all you do, Mr. Schaefer!

Brandon these videos are great. I’m a soft pastel artist that have never gotten any lessons or guidance. I’ve never even kept a sketch book, but recently decided to just start drawing and leave the pastels for a little a bit and really focus on drawing which I’ve never done. Anyways, this video just made me realize that the reason why the few paintings I’ve made with soft pastels all look cartoonish is because I paint with too much hard edges. Thank you.
