@carlmclelland7624Ай бұрын
OK, Wally, I sprained my shoulder, patting myself on the back. That was too easy... you should have shown Lucy a V-1 cut. It's too bad the tops weren't at ten so Lucy could have seen what real IFR is. (Check your email). Lucy... congratulations on your decision to learn to fly. Whether you're satisfied attaining your Private license, or you're the pilot of the first Martian lander, it's a career field unlike any other. One of my very best, lifelong friends was a lady named Evelyn "Pinky" Brier. Pinky was the very first female licensed flight instructor, back in the 1930s, and flew as a corporate/charter pilot into her seventies. Pinky had approximately fifty-thousand-hours when she retired, and is credited for making more landings at Los Angeles International Airport than any other pilot. Now, have Wally loan you his copy of my book, "Broken Controller: an Air Traffic Controllers Story." It describes my life as a controller, commercial, corporate pilot and flight instructor. Welcome aboard... you can 'bust minimums' with me... any day....

@AccidentalAviatorАй бұрын
That's a great question, and you're the second person to ask this. I *believe* it's just a strake. It's located on the back side of the wing next to each aileron, and it's used to help the airflow across the back of the wing/aileron. It is NOT a moveable control surface.
