What’s good etiquette if another hunter is already setup in the area you scouted (both hunters probably heard the same roost gobbling the night before but from different spots)?

Leave the area and try to find another area to scout and hunt turkeys. Do not ever compete with another hunter for the same bird. Pennsylvania law requires that you call in gobblers as it is illegal to stalk them.

Maybe try to talk with him at some point and maybe meet a new hunting partner. But yeah for the most part I'd maybe find another spot. That is if I couldn't speak to the other hunter before the next hunt in that area

Great video. I love turkey hunting in pa. I always purchase my second turkey tag and even if I don’t fill both tags it doesn’t really matter to me it just keeps me in the woods. And Hopefully the extra money goes back into the wildlife, and I think it’s excellent that our season doesn’t start until may. It gives the turkeys a month to breed and do there thing, I don’t understand why other states open up so early. 👍🏻

Most open earlier for breeding reasons , some breed earlier with some breeding later.i believe most.of the time the biologists probably have them pretty close to have breeding already accomplished I would guess.

What’s the probability of encountering black bears in the dark while out to listening to the morning turkey communications / vocalizations (northern Dauphin county)? Any related concerns?

Im in NY . Feb 2023 - i have always had turkeys on my property- this year we have 18 that come by about 7 am additional times during the day. There are 6 Toms in full spread lately. How far away from them do you have to be to legally shoot them ?

There's no law around the distance. However, you're not allowed to harvest a turkey with any type of bullet in ny. Handgun with shotgun rounds, a shotgun or a bow are the only legal ways. I will help you come kill these turkey. Where in ny are you?

I would say you need to.pattern your gun you will be using and see what you are comfortable with. Usually around 40 yards or maybe a little more or less depending on pattern and shooters ability.
