Well when I first started learning about improv, I tried to follow chords but it just became too much to think about while trying to come up with a melody to play. I just kept practicing it until I could follow the chords naturally I guess! And you definitely play wrong notes no matter what, so embrace them because sometimes they sound cool haha 😊
