Always like seeing creative ideas with what you have at home! Never thought of candle wax. I personally use a hot glue gun to dot both ends with glue. You can use a toothpick, orange stick, pencil, pen with cap (dot the cap)... really any stick-like item. You can shape it while it is hot, but you can also file it to shape when it's cool. Works great picking up sequins and stones.

Lovely but in the Florida humidity won't the tips melt off? Where's the best place to get a picker like you use? TFS ❣️💛☮️✌️💜
@refunctioncrafts49284 жыл бұрын
You make a very valid point. I would imagine that hot l, humid weather would cause them to melt easily. I live in a dry climate so I don’t have that problem. Here is the link to the one I use. Uchida Of America 91GR Double... www.amazon.com/dp/B00NL5LTO2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

What wax did you use? I tried several candles but none were sticky enough to pick up the rhinestones
@refunctioncrafts49284 жыл бұрын
One of the best I’ve found to use are the small tea light candles without the extra oils and perfumes.
@xkratosxxxx74262 жыл бұрын
So this will work for setting gems into rings and inlays of rings?
@refunctioncrafts49282 жыл бұрын
Yes it will. They work like a charm. Just make sure the wax you use is somewhat sticky. You will know the first time you pick up a rhinestone because it will pick up with ease.

Would wax on the tip of pickup cloud the rimestones?
@refunctioncrafts49288 ай бұрын
No, it barely sticks to the wax but if it does, just buff the rhinestone with a soft cloth and it will be good as new. ♥️
@aurumdream96938 ай бұрын
@@refunctioncrafts4928 Thank you for your reply which generates new question: Since each rhinestone has many sides, that require a lot of buff with a soft cloth. In addition, I am working with hundreds of tiny, small to mid size rhinestones (to cover the entire two flat shoes) (3 pairs) , buffing ALL with a soft cloth would be even more efforts.

Does the candle wax not fall apart after it dries? Does it have to be a lit candle or can it be melted wax in like a wax burner?
@refunctioncrafts49286 ай бұрын
I haven’t had trouble with them falling apart but I do make several of them when I make them. You can’t use the wax from the burners because it is too oily. It needs to come from a candle that isn’t too oily. The oil tends to make it slippery. They certainly don’t last forever but I love them. Thanks for your question. ♥️
@evelyndickie836 ай бұрын
@refunctioncrafts4928 what about like a woodwick candle. Sorry. After you said something about it being oily I was thinking that I think a me candles seem oily?

want to put rhinestones on stretch lace - any tips?
@refunctioncrafts49283 жыл бұрын
Well, I would place the rhinestones close together because once you stretch the lace, you don’t want it to come out looking to sparse. It really depends on what you are looking for as far as how the lace will stretch when the item is being used. What are you making?

Likely because the wax in your candle has too much oil in it. I have found that the cheapest candles like the tea lights you get at the dollar stores work the best.
