Great video, Shannon! Thanks! My wife and I had a wonderful time playing games with you and the rest of the lovely staff at Chip Theory last night. We appreciated the tour that you gave us and the warmth and friendliness from everyone we met. We are also now proud owners of a copy of Cloudspire due to Chip Theory's tremendous generosity. So, now I'm here to learn how to play it! :) We were already fans based on the quality of the Chip Theory Games' games (hahah) that we own and our brief interactions with you all at our local convention. But having seen behind the curtain so to speak, we came away very impressed. Bravo!

Well done tutorial. Like Too Many Bones, in a way, the phases and such are not that complex. It's the details of the powers, the combat (which is greatly simplified here), upgrades where the complexity lies, especially in the interplay of abilities, events, relics, and the standard rules. But getting into is for later. This is a good overview of the phases. I really appreciate how well organized this is. Some tutorials are a bit verbose. :)

Hi, thx for this video. Short question at 9:00 This shown spire shows an attack and a fortification starting upgrade. On the bottom are 2 dots, means this spire will have max 2 upgrades. Question: are these dots mean upgrades „additional“ to the starting upgrades? 10:00 Is it allowed to place an earthshape over a source well, so no spire can be build on this covered hex? Thx Daniel
@shannonwedge14105 жыл бұрын
Hi Genus! Happy to answer some Qs! The dots are total upgrades, including your starting upgrades. In the case where a spire has 2 starting upgrades and a capacity of 2, you would not be able to add further upgrades to it until it loses one (or you use an advancement/talent that ignores upgrade capacity). Yes, you are allowed to cover an empty Source Well with an earthscape.
@xiuhtecuhtli3 жыл бұрын
@@shannonwedge1410 they should add it to the Klingon. ie: capacity dots for upgrades are the actual number of chips a spire might stack underneath

Good video. I would suggest for future videos to not rotate the camera axis by 180 degrees between different cameras. I was sometimes confused between the front and the top camera where the chips were.

Couple of questions about the Heir turn after the Brawnin built their spire. 1) You had the spire fire at the Harrier and kill it during the "Spires attack" step, but would I be correct in thinking that the Harrier should have been able to hit Awsh first due to Quick Strike? 2) You described Splash as hitting adjacent units, for the attack damage (which would kill Awsh) but I think Splash is always 1 damage, not the rolled damage, correct? So if I have it right, that last bit would have played out slightly different: The Harrier would attack before the Spire, doing 1 damage to Awsh, taking him down to 1 Then, the Spire would fire, killing the Harrier, at which point you could choose to do Splash of 1 point killing Awsh and the Joust, or not do the Splash.
@shanshanwow5 жыл бұрын
1. Yes, you are correct. I forgot to activate the harrier's Quick Strike, which I should have done. 2. Correct, Splash is 1 damage. This is an instance of the rule being adjusted after the video was filmed. I'll get these two corrections added into the Klingon subtitles. Thanks!

8:15 Do they not also have influence over the other hex group as it is adjacent to the fortress?
@shanshanwow5 жыл бұрын
Good question. I should have been more specific. The hex group has to be adjacent to your fortress gate for influence - touching on the side of the fortress does not give it influence.

I am curious as to why red was chosen for the color of attack upgrades. It appears to be difficult to determine whether the Hero has 2 health or 1 health and an additional attack once it is within the stack.
@shannonwedge14105 жыл бұрын
This video was made prior to the final production, and we had to use chip colours that we had on hand. In the final production, attack chips are orange and easy to distinguish from health.

When minions are attacking a landmark minion, do they still have to move (meaning they'd disengage)? In most MOBAs they'd stop and keep attacking?
@shanshanwow5 жыл бұрын
@Vascariz - The minions' main mission is to get to their mark's fortress gate and defeat it. So yes, they will "disengage" and continue moving toward their mark, rather than stand and fight something adjacent to them.

I just received mine this week but I'm a little disappointed about one thing : the colors of my hex don't exactly look the same as the many videos I watched about Cloudspire. They look much darker and makes it harder to read and is less beautiful and pleasant to use as what I expected 😢 (and what I could see on each video).

Sorry to hear that! Have you tried rotating your hex groups? When printing on neoprene, the fabric shows the image differently depending on what direction you are viewing it from. If it’s still very dark, please submit a support ticket on our site!

Great tutorial. Quick question. If a player has explored a location on a previous turn, but chose not to reveal it. Are they allowed to peak at it in the future to check stats/etc., or do they need to explore it once again? Also @29:40 would the harrier's quick strike effect come into play prior to the spire attacking it?
@shanshanwow5 жыл бұрын
@jgreishaw - technically you only get the one look at the landmark, and would need to explore again to look at it again. Though if your group agrees to allow another peek, there's nothing really wrong with that. And yes, you are correct - the harrier could have used Quick Strike prior to the spire firing (and would have been smart to do so).

Great video! Quick question: @30:41 are we not supposed to check for campfire mode for the heirs since the Brawnen have no more minions in play? So was Darb technically able to move/attack this wave or did he need to wait for the next wave? Thank you!
@foxfire13452 жыл бұрын
Campfire mode only triggers when another faction has no more units in play. In this example , the brawnen still has awsh, a hero unit. So darb can still move and attack during this wave.

32:18: Hero upgrade - question and a mistake? Question: When the hero is upgraded, shouldn't the upgrade always go on the bottom of the stack, so in this case, the fortification ought to have been placed below his remaining health? This also happens at 31:36, you place the upgrade directly under the hero, instead of the bottom of the stack. Mistake?: You then say this will act as an additional health (true'ish, but), ""so the next time he takes damage, he'll lose that fortification"". This seems wrong on two fronts. Firstly, you've placed the fortification chip in the highest position in the stack, the next damage will take away the lowest red health chip (not the upgrade). Secondly, even if the fortification upgrade was in the lowest position in the stack (i.e. on the bottom) it would need 2 damage (in one attack) to be removed, not the next single damage; this is also (incorrectly?) stated at 31:36. I'm new to the rules, so please correct me if/where wrong.

The official playmat sold for this game is 40" x 36". Add to that any space you need to place the components. That should answer your question.
