I have to questions 1. Do you start this mode with any units? 2. Do you use your M&M deck only at the final stage (the final combat)?

I will verify once I get back to my game (it will be a few days), but I believe each player may select from the 7 units of their chosen race. 2. I will double-check this as well, but unless the exploration phase has cards that cause you to use your deck, then yes. The Battlefield mode seemingly is designed to be a faster way to play. Sorry that my answer boils down to "I don't know, I will check later." I will, though!
