When I saw Paul in 2010 in S.F. he grabbed his Epiphone and told the audience that "this is the very guitar I played "Paperback Writer" on...all those years ago!" Then he proceeded to start playing the riffs of the tune and played the entire tune. Super cool. BTW...the Beatles will always be the "best band ever!"
@tonym9945 жыл бұрын
I always thought it was George playing the riff.

For the Beatles as individuals to come together in time and space and produce the music they did was truly a miracle. I agree, the best there ever was until them and after them. No musical training and be able to do what they did was just beautiful for all of us.
@user-so2cx6tr6q9 жыл бұрын
Do you really believe that's no training?

Your right there will NEVER be another band like the Beatles, and there will never be those great times again either. For those in this new generation who weren't alive in the 60's to experience the first ever rock bands and rock music, you all have no clue what so ever on what you really missed out on.
@rdhawk707 жыл бұрын
if you imagine the Beatles were "first", then it is "you", that has "no clue". I am a Beatles fanatic, but honest..

I also have to agree w your assessment of the Beatles for being the greatest that were and will be.... Most great artists feel the same, interesting note.
@cuda426hemi5 жыл бұрын
I think the opening riff is not a bar chord based thing - it's a sweep from the bottom four strings up- 1st 2 strngs barred at 3rd fret so it sounds G-C-open D then open G string - then the open D to F tag

Sir Paul McCartney is currently on tour and Paperback Writer is on set list. He reveals to his audiences before he plays the song that is was HE who played the raunchy, driving guitar lead on Paperback Writer. He even uses the exact guitar in concert that he used in the studio, which is an Epiphone Casino. The PW session photos show him playing the Epi. Thus ends decades of speculation about who the lead guitarist was in this song. No word as to what George's role was.
@Legoairborne1018 жыл бұрын

Its funny that George Harrison (1963 Rickenbacker 360/12) & Sir James Paul McCartney (1965 Epiphone Casino) played a lot of bright, jangly, interwoven, intricate sounding guitar parts from Hard Days Night thru Revolver. Then we got a different Paul, playing more melodic bass lines & piano based instrumentation.

great tutorial, thanks, but when george hammers on from the 3 to 5 on the A on the main riff, last part of the riff, he does it SUPER fast, almost in unison, which after you listen to it, really makes it sound authentic and distinct. that little difference. You are playing the correct notes, but not fast enough on the hammer on.. thanks
