I don't know why but I just love this track. Maybe it's because I'm not a serious mario kart player but I just really like the aesthetic and music, and the shortcuts are pretty fun to do imo
@Bayesic11 ай бұрын
Yeah, like I mentioned in the video once you learn the shortcuts, they’re not that bad and I do actually enjoy pulling them off quite a bit

Funny thing is that Mario Kart Tour does use solid walls for the arrows of cove instead of the red translucent ones designed for MK8DX! Also, regarding the inability to see the path ahead of you on Lap 3, that's likely caused by the tracks being upscaled from Tour, where in Tour it would've been easy to see the path ahead of you due to the course being scaled as intended therefore making the little slope blocking the view of the upcoming turn less prevalent.

all your points about this track having bad design are valid, but i still really like it for one main reason. we've gotten so many tour tracks that are just "drive within these lines with maybe a boring obvious offroad mushroom shortcut if you're lucky". even the non tour tracks rarely have niscs that aren't just "do this ordinary mushroom shortcut without a mushroom", and when they do it's often horrible garbage like the dk summit one. this was the first track in the game where watching the world record made me go "wow, it's so cool that that's possible". i just think this track is really interesting and love that it actually uses water physics in an interesting way unlike pretty much every other course in the game, even if the actual shortcuts themselves aren't the most polished (i'd be surprised if any of them aside from maybe the first one were intended by the developers).

Honestly, I never had much issues with the issues you pointed out with the arrows. I thought all of the Wave 6 tracks were really easy to tell where to go, even Rome which should have been insanely complex and confusing but the arrows were more clear to me then plenty of the previous cities. I only have one issue with the arrows and it's on this track, and that's the first turn on Lap 3 since the arrows pointing right don't go the entire way and block the entire road, the ramp on the left side of the route isn;t blocked so when I first played the track I instinctively went there and got sent out of bounds despite me playing the track in Tour and knowing what to expect from the route. The two arrows after that you complained about were no issue for me since they both pointed forwards and you had to, well, go forwards.

I love driving this track now, but I agree that learning it (lap 3 in particular) was extremely frustrating. So many completely blind turns and unintuitive strats

Yeah this is definitely a “now that I know it I’m flexing on all my friends” type tracks haha

If a player's first few attempts at Piranha Plant Cove are in the 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc Acorn Cups, in that specific order (or repeating at a lower cc if the full 60 points have not been achieved in the cup as a whole before moving up to the next cc), then minimal confusion is achieved. Of course, that doesn't help with learning the more advanced strats covered in this video, but I would suggest those single-player cups before time trials to most players anyway, with time trials being the place to attempt the difficult cuts (which I still fail at over 99% of the time). If I wasn't such a Wiggler enthusiast, this would be my favorite course of Wave 6, and possibly even the entire Booster Pass as a whole. Definitely looking forward to Madrid next. All glory, I mean all wholesome head pats, to the adorable sleepyhead Wiggler. (Or swap "glory" with "wholesome head pats" if you like the other order better. 😆)

I completely agree, this track is a nightmare to learn because of how many blind turns and unnecessary elevation changes there are.

I'm glad we got 48 new tracks at the price they sold it for... But hot damn is the gameplay polish just *not* there for 90% of the booster pass. Inconsistent trick surfaces, insta-gliders, and bad directional arrows abound.

Thanks Bayesic, loved this as always. My reflection after doing some time trial grinding over the last few weeks (after a few months away) is that I think there are two concepts you could do an explainer on (or reexplainer) - soft drifting and mini-turbo tricks. I know you've done a soft drifting tutorial before but for some reason, I still don't really get where my analog stick is supposed to be to soft drift and how I can tell when I'm doing it right! I may just be slow but if you ever do an 'idiot's guide to soft-drifting', I'd appreciate it! Secondly, I don't think (could be wrong) you actually cover mini-turbo tricks in your basic skills video - or at least you don't call it that? But given how much of this track run used both of these skills, I reckon I'll wait til I understand both these things better before I give Piranha Plant Cove another shot. Thanks for your work, looking forward to Madrid!

Yeah, I feel a bit bad about being so hard on this track, because I do think that once you know where you’re supposed to go and what you’re supposed to do it’s actually pretty fun to play But I really feel like it didn’t need to be as hard to learn as it was
@marcopelle94784 ай бұрын
@Bayesic You do are right as it is one of the most difficoult to learn but it's a lot of tracks on this game now, so I think it's okay some of them are harder and some of them are toad circuit

I really like the design of this course, the NISC shortcuts, and the visuals.....but damn is this more precision based difficult than it needs to be and the actual driving is....okay. Still cant rank it lower than A tier for me, however.

Not an enjoyable track to play. Hell, even watching this 10 minute breakdown was exhausting. We've gotten the occasional gem from the DLC but honestly, if I was to name my least favourite 25 courses i'm pretty sure 80% would be from the "new" tracks

this time trial was beating my ass the other day. took me an hour and a half to get a single "good enough" run and even then i was like 9 seconds behind WR. glad to see i'm not the only one whose hands hurt 🥲
