Despite the general backlash I still enjoy Sunset Wilds a bit. There might have been a better, also available in Tour, GBA Desert track to pick from in Yoshi Desert, but I feel like this track's simplicity is an appeal (though it still retains it's little share of tricks like the drift between the mud and the off road which I always like going for).

Feels good to finally hear "today, we're using the usual tryhard build of..." again lol. Great tutorial, as always!

Needed to be sure what the try hard build actually was haha. Took some time xD

Even without utilizing most of the Bayesic Training strats, I still ended up killing my thumbs trying to get my time down from 1:46.xxx (I forget the precise digits after the decimal point) to 1:42.571, and as recently as yesterday, I was content with the slower time. But that was before watching Hololive talents Hakos Baelz and IRyS go back and forth with their Sunset Wilds rivalry this morning, and my current time is now 0:00.022 faster than Bae's time, which was faster than IRyS' time because of how Bae reacted after achieving the time. Also, I used Petey Piranha in the Pipe Frame with Leaf tires and the (Daisy) Flower Glider for both my old time and my new time because I want my ghost to be a build I have taken to calling "Nature's Madness" (or "Nature's Wrath", as both names technically work for the build). I could probably knock off another full second if I gave in to the Traction meta of the Streetle, even with Petey instead of a driver with more optimal combined Ground Speed and Mini Turbo, and that without the Bayesic Training strats. If I decide to use these in a future time trial, my thumbs will never forgive me, but I think I could get sub-1:40 (but not beat the PB you have in this video). Hopefully you (and anyone else reading this) enjoys my anecdote. 😄

Might be worth a quick mention of how to soft drift when you mention it in videos so that the video can be useful without further research? Though I guess having people watch more than one video is good! Great video 😁
@Bayesic Жыл бұрын
Also like soft drifting is such an integral skill to have and it’s complicated enough to explain that it wouldn’t fit very well if I were to talk about it in every video haha

It's a bit annoying that some signature parts of these courses are missing but Sunset Wilds is pretty okay regardless.

I miss the "group hug", but that only comes into play when driving into the Shy Guy tents, so in a way, I can see why Nintendo wouldn't want to spend time adapting that for the Booster Pass. That said, we could have gotten Yoshi Desert in this spot, which would have been a much better option if Nintendo was never going to add the stuff that made Sunset Wilds iconic.

I noticed the WR bonked the wall on that NISC. I'm assuming that gave them a bounce back to the track quicker like we've seen in some other tracks. Not that I'm going to be pulling off that level of precision or anything

MK8 has no dynamic lighting system so the shadows would appear at night unless they rework the entire lighting system just for this course

There is no consistent way to do that NISC in lap 2, I try to do different strats (releasing SMT way before the cut or halfway for instance) by trial and error and sometimes I can clear the sand, but it seems to be arbitrary whether it works or not.

Definitely one of those courses that the pass could have done without. The fact that most of the course is orange brown, on tom of the sunset, just makes it a visual blur to me. On top of not having anything interesting going on in the background to at least bring some more life to the track. The few shy guys just feel like they might as well have been rocks and nothing would have changed about the track. Not a fan of this one.
