Surah Al-Ma'idah (Arabic: المائدة, transliterated. sūrah al-mā'idah, har. 'meal') is the 5th chapter of the Qur'an. This surah consists of 120 verses and belongs to the Madaniyah surah group. Even though there are verses that were revealed in Mecca, these verses were revealed after the Prophet Muhammad migrated to Medina, namely during the Hajj Wada' event. This surah is called Al-Ma'idah (dish) because it contains the story of the faithful followers of the prophet Isa asking Prophet Isa to ask Allah to send down for them Al-Ma'idah (food dish) from the sky (verse 112). In addition, Surah Al-Ma'idah is also called Al-Uqud (covenant), because the word is found in the first verse of this surah, where Allah commands His servants to fulfill their promises to Allah and the agreements they make to Allah. each other. It is also called Al-Munqidz (the one who saves), because at the end of this sura contains the testimony of Isa Al-Masih against his followers.
