I freehand my knives on small DMT blue and red then finish on a very old hard Arkansas stone from case its somewhat translucent. I'd like to try this out I just feel like if I buy it I'll be disappointed. It took me a few years to get good at sharpening when I was younger but I can get an epic edge without scratching the face of a blade. Gotta say my two favorite Benchmade knives are my Morphos and my mini first production original style Rukus which I rarely carry. I wish I was lucky enough to find a new full size Rukus hidden in the back of a gun shop like I found my mini which I only paid $175 for nib just this year haha.

I wonder why nobody mentions that that the sharpening angle on this gadget is NOT 20 degrees? It’ll actually be 20+half of the blade’s cross-section, which might be a bit too blunt for many...

Sharpener is 20 degrees, I read that benchmade knives are sold with 30-40 degrees. Why isn't the sharpener 30 or 40 ???

When you are sharpening the single bevel broadhead what do you do to the back side of it? Does a burr build on it and what process do you do to remove it?

After you get a consistent burr on the back side of the single bevel, you take it off with a couple strokes while holding the broad heads edge completely flat (parallel) to the sharpening surface. It sounds easy but for some reason it took me awhile to figure out how to get my single bevels hair popping sharp.

It's amazing how most of so called "knife reviewers" seem to know nothing about sharpening. . (edit: Rant ending in digression, sorry for the unplanned promo) I have many knives, factory sharpness was always dull to me (with one exception - Spyderco Centofante made in Japan was literally too sharp). Edge retention depends on steel manufacturing even more perhaps then its composition. Once I sharpen a (S30V) Benchmade it is always shaving sharp and stays so until I tell them otherwise (eg by cutting open at least a thick can with it). I've literally cut nails with my blades (hammer-bang method) and I resharpen them after any abuse all the way by hand till they shave, I know my sh*t. I didn't perform that particular "test" with my lovely Benchmades - but I once needed to do it and I had an ugly a*s S35V Cold Steel - it cut wood screws like butter. Yet in comparison Benchmade S30V retains sharpness for far longer in regular light and semi-light use (didn't dare heavy duty - too expensive, and I expect It wouldn't go worse then the S35V from Taiwan) - imho apart from the lower angle of the cutting edge it is the higher quality of manufacturing of the steel itself that provides the better long-term edge retention. . (... I talk too much to the screen.)

Hi I have a knife from benchmade 940-2 and I have Ruixin pro sharpening system and I want to sharpen it but i dont know any angle Use it to sharpen

So what I like to do is give my 940 a 15 degree primary bevel and then finish with a 20 degree micro bevel. If you don't understand what I mean by that check out TheApostleP youtube channel! He has some great stuff on knife sharpening. I hope this helps إنكِسآف

Considering all Benchmade knives come dull ass sharp, they should throw in an over priced worksharp with the knife purchase. They also sharpen at a angle that isn't offered on that sharpener, so the guide setup is useless unless you take the time to reprofile the cutting edge.
