Hi Jenne. Thanks for the tutorial(s) I'm 70 and have been tapping about 5 years now. I can "execute" a lot of steps but I struggle mightily on catching the beat and with choreography. I am trying to go through your beginner series choreo to rectify this. I am repeating the choreography with your tutorials and then trying it with the music alone. My biggest problem is hearing where the music bars start and finish. I'd be grateful for any advise.

My best advice for hearing the measures is to focus on the downbeat of each phrase. I usually choreograph my dances with heavy downbeats so it is easy for people to find the 1. I hope that helps! :)

@@JenneVermes I found a trick. I don't know if it's "legal" or not. On Spotify you can activate the lyric button. It is a little microphone icon. The lyrics come on and they are broken up into measures. You can also click your cursor anywhere on the lyrics and the music starts on that point. Of course if there are no lyrics…….

This was my first video I did of yours, it was great! I've tapped for a little over 7 years starting as an adult tapper, and I wanted to try out my new roll out tap board I got in the mail for at home. It looks like the same one as yours. I have been practicing with your video for about 30 minutes for the last 5 days and am completely new to tap! I just started YouTubing learn to tap a week ago after buying tap shoes at a thrift store. I am 35 years old and a perfectionist so I keep going over the same part until I feel I have executed it and the 5 count riff so far has been my hardest to get up to the speed it needs to be to keep up with the choreography. Any suggestions on getting my 5 count riff up to speed?

Happy to tap with you via KZbin!! The biggest thing with the 5-count riff is to make sure your weight is on your standing leg until it’s time to dig and toe so you have full freedom of the working foot. Also relax your foot and let the movements be smaller :)

@@JenneVermes I ended up figuring out I was making the wrong move on the second step of the 5-count riff so I am now working on getting my speed up, which is much easier with the correct move! Excited to move on to the next part!
