@@LearnTurkishvia What do you recommend to improve the listing and understanding skills for Turkish. When I read I can understand a lot of what I read because I can take time to decipher the meaning of the writing words, but because of the difference in the structure of Turkish compared to English and Spanish the the two main languages I know, it’s very difficult (çok çok zor 😞) for me to understand spoken Turkish. Thank you.

Another Good lesson taught clearly and systematically. Thank you. Just one thing......it is actually quite unusual to start a sentence with “According to”. Certainly in conversation most native English speakers would say “I think this restaurant is very good” or “in my opinion Turkish is a beautiful language” or “Andrew reckons that the exam will be easy”. Situations where we say “according to” the phrase is placed inside the sentence, or at the end. Eg “this book is really good, according to Roger” Alternatively it is often used as a link between two sentences eg “did you see how bad the traffic was yesterday? According to the newspaper there had been an accident “ This construction that you have taught here, is this a commonly used construction in conversational Turkish? And what does it actually mean? “According to” implies that someone has told someone else. For this reason, “according to me” sounds odd - it implies that I have told myself. If I wanted to say “I think the Harry Potter books are rubbish” would you use “bence “?

Thank you for your question. You are right and I am aware of that its odd to say "according to me" in some examples , especially in the second part of this lesson however it's a lesson of only 10 minutes and I need at least an hour to explain the details and differences etc. For example, in many cases bence means "I think" , "in my opinion". So when We say" Bence bu restoran çok güzel" actually we say "I think this restaurant is so good". I am planning to add more advance videos with more explanations and details after I finish the videos for basics. Maybe some online lesson videos too. Wish you success, başarılar.

According to... in English is mostly used when talking about what someone said. (Uuuuffffff this brought me back to my college years: "According to the author..." 🤣😂
