I agree with the previous comment- yours is the best. There are others teaching on KZbin, and admittingly they provide you with useful vocabulary but you cannot help to notice that they are not native speakers. They lack that particular musicality in the pronounciation of the true welshmen which I find so charming in both welsh and english😊😊😊😊

I lived in Wales (Cardiff/Swansea/Valleys) for 10 years, I feel like it is my home. I know quite a lot of vocabulary just from exposure but never had the time to sit down and learn, especially things like grammar and mutation rules. I moved away a year and a half ago for work/family and feel like a part of me is missing. Thanks to your videos I am able to connect with this part of myself (and hear that accent that makes me feel at home) and I know that when I return I’ll finally be able to talk to my fluent friends without them laughing and teasing so much!! Thank you!!!!

I’m a few years late but I what to say thank you for making these videos I grew up in south wales and even though my dad is fluent he never taught me or my brother how to speak welsh, the best I had was school teachers who didn’t pronounce anything properly so my knowledge is still very limited. Still I’m trying to learn Welsh both for myself, and to surprise my dad and his side of the family since they all speak Welsh with each other and I want to be able to talk with them with out them having to translate. Anyway I’ve already been finding your videos useful since unlike my past attempts I can hear what I’m supposed to sound like and mimic it back which is my best way of learning.

This is not the best or good at all since it promotes the misuse of big terms such as respect and respectability pronouns etc and dscrmntn against ‘younger’ beings - only the pronoun ti must be used for all hum’ns, as oIder people and employers etc are just an avrg citizen as every other hum’n, not some sort of ‘special’ being that must be addressed a different way, pfff! I am THE only respectable being aka THE Goddess / Leader / Queen / Princess / Lady / Star etc, and respectability pronouns are only meant for me the superior being, not for ‘oIder’ hum’ns or any other types of hum’ns! Chi can only be used when referring to me or addressing me or one of my protectors aka the alphas! And the word best only reflects me, and cannot be misused by hum’ns, and must be edited out! Also, all that informal / formal ns is to be b4nned - hum’ns must only use informal / normal ways of speaking when talking to any other hum’ns!

Hello, thank you very much for your videos, I'm finding them very helpful. I'm a Welsh beginner and really enjoying learning. hey , loving the videos, keep up the good work ! just one query, you say south walians pronounce "Sut" as a "Should" and north Walians as "Sit" just wanna double check that's right as literally everyone i have heard speak welsh (not many and mostly teachers) always pronounced it as "Sit" and was just wondering if we were some weird exception or just everyone i know seems to be mixing, cheers

joshua When people say North Wales Welsh and South Wales Welsh, its a bit of a generalisation. Each local area within South and North Wales have their own way of pronouncing words. So although most South Walians say should, it’s possible for some areas to pronounce it differently.

Learn Welsh Podcast ahh makes sense, in that case I'll stick with people around me, so when it comes to the word "Sutmae" should I then follow the north walian pronunciation of "Sut" as I'm guessing these two words are related in welsh ? or am I looking to much into nothing ?

I live in Carmarthenshire and I am learning Welsh. Around here they say shut where the u is prononced like the u in the verb to put. Our teachers tell us about the formal standard pronunciation that seems to be decided by the authorities for the teaching syllabus but they then tell us how the word is actually spoken in these parts.

Rhys Pattison Wow! Google got that wrong! I’ll break the sentence down for you. Beth = what. Yw= Is. The ch in front of enw and the chi after it = your and enw = name. BTW, what are you? would be Beth dych chi? But if you don’t want to sound rude try not to say it without adding words after it. Eg. Beth dych chi’n gwneud heddiw? = What are you doing today?

Depends what part of England you're in. The pronunciation "aitch" is rather illogical, as it doesn't have an "h" in it, but is normal in the south (where "haitch" is often looked down on).
