I'm physically disabled and I've always wanted to play guitar. I also have very little musical knowledge. I've been messing with a variety of guitar and amps vsts and they sound great! I've been looking for a video like yours for months. All of the other videos use real guitars or keyboards, which I don't have or able to use. Your video is the only one which draws the midi notes. I can't thank you enough. I just subscribed and was curious if you have similar videos like this one? Thanks again!!

there is a feature in the piano roll that allows the cursore to advance after every note or cord..so you can use your keyboard to enter the info and not use the mouse...SCOTT

AME's palm mutes and articulation system are not really the best. You can check other virtual instruments. As a pro tip, although the notation says 8th note, don't read it like a pianist, enter it like 16th note. Chunk sound. Short palm sound. Actually in a real rock rhythm like that have 3 types of sound. Muted, Palm Muted and Sustain/Legato. The highest you pressed is overdrive harmonics. In muted the guitar gives you a neutral muted rhythm "chuck" sound. Palm mute, it gives you a "chunk " sound of a note like E. Even Palm mutes have pressure changes in real life but for Vsti programming these will be enough. feel free to contact and we can exchange experiences. I have been doing these since (very long time my age will come out!)

Fun video and that website is a great tip! I input the notes from my midi controller using the step time recording mode on my DAW and keep the sheet music open on my tablet. Inputting notes takes less than 30 seconds for a few bars (if you can read music and are a bit familiar with a keyboard). But that would make for a pretty boring or confusing video... 😅

When you input the music sheet (and tab) through the DAW MIDI editor, you are letting the instrument decide what strings to play. Which may be fine. When you input the tab through Riffer, as I did, the exported MIDI has a key instruction for EVERY NOTE about which string to play. This is very precise, but can become difficult to edit in the DAW. I can’t find a middle ground method: it seems one you have ONE string instruction in your MIDI file, you must continue to set instructions, unless you want all later notes to be forced onto that string. Am I missing something here? This video is very good to prompt this type of exchange, from which we may all learn tips and tricks for programming Amplesound guitars. Thanks again!
@hifimidi
@hifimidi 5 жыл бұрын
Federico Thomsen Audio I agree. So far there is no middle ground. And doing it within your midi edit window is almost doing it blindly. I should note, yesterday I was having trouble finding the forced string key switch. It’s actually there, but it’s out of view of the virtual keyboard. Kang told me that if you export a riff with the forced strings into your track, you’ll be able to see the strings in the midi editor.

If you're using Cubase, you can make and expression map to force particular strings in the Midi Editor. This works very well with Orange Tree guitars. I'm yet to try it with Amplesound
@ThomsenTower
@ThomsenTower 5 жыл бұрын
@@hifimidi Yes, I have them in my Cubase midi file. But, man, there is one for each note. Don´t even think of changing the music much within the midi editor, unless you are prepared to look at a "map" of a guitar to see on what string your new notes should be played, and moving each note instruction appropriately. However, this is no criticism of ASound: I cannot think of a better way to do all they want to do (articulations and string choices for EACH note) within the current limitations of MIDI. I have not looked to see if other guitar VSTis have come up with a better solution for forced strings. Did you? I very much doubt they have.

@@hifimidi From an unexpected place in the manual: "G0-C1 correspond to 6th string-1st string. "
@ThomsenTower
@ThomsenTower 5 жыл бұрын
@@benhughes2355 Yes, I was thinking of trying this. However, since I guess you will still need an instruction for EACH note, the main advantage would be, as with many expression maps, merely cleaning up the MIDI track a bit? Also, if I start with a MIDI file exported from Riffer, I would have to remove manually the string instructions and replace them with expression map instructions, no?

Can I ask a quick question... how do you stop notes/chords ringing at any point you want it to, such as a keyswitch that mutes the guitar sound suddenly. At the moment I'm using F4 which mutes the sound but does so with an abrupt, almost 'scrape' sound. not ideal but I don't know how to mute notes with sudden silence!

They are complicated cause they have lots of features, that's a necessary evil. But by no means are they impossible to learn and listening to a lot of guitar music and watching people play helps with understanding how a real guitarist would play some part. That way you know what articulations to use and when.

just like any instrument, programing requires practice not laziness. The amount of Fx/keyswitching and other features makes it worth it.
