Consider a function f(x) Step 1: Find f'(x) I.e., differentiate f(x) Step 2: Equate f'(x) =0 Find the roots (value of x) Step 3: Find f''(x) That is differentiate f'(x) Step 4: Substitute the values obtained in step 2 in f"(x) *If f"(x) < 0 then for that value of x ,f(x) is maximum. *If f"(x) >0 then for that value of, f(x) in minimum Step 5: substitute the values of x in f(x) and you will obtain maximum and minimum values.

At x= 100, value of this function will be greater than 30, At x=-100, value will be lesser than -66. Simple reason is because maxima and minima of cubic equation is infinity
