*I already recorded a large part of the next video in this series but you'll all have to wait a few days. It's the 'Noche de San Juan' on Sunday night, you know, the one with bonfires on the beaches and everyone runs into the sea backwards at midnight to the backdrop of a big firework display. Then the outdoor DJ's and concerts start up and the party gets going until very late... I'll be out filming that one for Gran Canaria Uncovered channel so very little work will get done Monday and it will probably be Tuesday before I finish the next installement. Do they have anything like that in your part of the world to celebrate the summer solstice? We have it every year, the night of June 23rd/24th*

We have something called Midsommar (midsummer) the longest day of the year here in Sweden that is celebrated on a Friday so it can be between June 19th to June 25th this year it was June 21st

@@Karthor. Do they do something special on that day? Last year SAn Juan was on a Friday, but the 23rd can be on any day of the year of course so it changes

@@LearnElectronicsRepair it's not a festival like yours at least not in my town but usually i eat good dinner with my family or party with friends and it's a tradition to dance around a midsummer pole and sing a song called the little frogs but personally i haven't done that maybe when i was really drunk lol

@@Karthor. Hehehe The origin of San Juan here is not christian but pagan, it was celebrated by the Guanche people before Hispanic times. It was initially on the solstice June 21st and the reason for lighting fires on the beaches and elsewhere is to put more energy into the sun to stop it going out in the winter. The Catholic Church adapted and merged these pagan festivities with the celebration of the birth of Saint John the Baptist, whose date is June 24. Many people take advantage of the night of San Juan to bathe in the sea, rivers or fountains at dawn on June 24. It is believed that the water acquires special properties during this night and that bathing in it cleanses the body and soul. In addition, it is associated with the elimination of negative energies. Another tradition is jumping seven waves just at midnight, it is said that this is the perfect time to make a wish and have it come true. Bathing entering the water backwards is a mixture of pagan and baptism. 🙂

Richard, I do wonder if the .47uf across the chip is leaky / faulty...I've had this before in old TV audio, where I've had picture and no sound.. they can become sort leaky over time, and change their value enough to sort of bootstrap voltages and shift feedback or frequency response ... But no doubt the next video will offer the answer we are all waiting for ...looking forward with interest

Love the cliffhanger 😂 Hard cut though. You could have added an outro „will it go bang, will there be smoke or fire - watch the next episode to see the result of this high risk operation…“ Btw I would expect the voltage regulators to produce the same output, no matter if the current limiter is in or not. They are there to regulate, after all.

Hi Richard, think I've found a schematic, but youtube deletes the post with the link and any reference to the website. Let me know f you still need it.

I've replaced those 5 leg SAP's in DB bass bins and Cambridge audio amps. In the datasheet it shows the resistance of the gate resistors built in. Check to see if they test bad.

The fault on this amplifier is in the tweeter section, the customer told methe bass amp (where those SAP devices are) is working

I think there are resistors across each high voltages capacitors to prevent that a capacitance difference could lead to a higher than rated voltage of that capacitor

Might be silly question, but with the low voltage supply why would the design not tap off the 16v transformer low voltage rather than using the voltage regulators?

Given the maker provides a protection led, what do they expect the user to do when it turns on? They don't seem to provide any info on how to fix it. I can't believe they want you to return it for repair.
