@@calin1109 For UEFI, switch on - press F8 or F12 or whatever key for your BIOS Boot Selection menu - choose EFI Partition 1 or EFI Partition 2. For UEFI AMD, you need instructions from my blog - see my comment below.

To be fair to the original creators of the this software, I basically translated it from Spanish to make it more accessible for none Spanish speakers and added a few points I worked out myself when I could not get it to work. Thanks anyway, I am sure this will help a lot of people but credit where credit is due - The original (as far as I know) publisher was Kings Overkill. To test AMD GPUs: Select Option 3 When the text scrolls up the screen, at the end it says 'Press ENTER for maintenance or press control_D to continue' You need to Press ENTER Then type ls (LS but lower case) and ENTER Now you see a list of AMD GPU models to test. To run the test from the list type ./ then the name of the models from the list - for example ./390 for R9-390

When I select option 3 to test a RX 470, it display about 20 lines of logging data and then locks up and doesn't accept any keyboard input. I've disabled the internal graphics and selected PCI as the display source. Are there any other bios setting I might need to make.

Hello, i don't know if you will see this comment, but i do have 2 identical MSI 5700XT's that were mining for a long time; They will run furmark forever, but they will crash and reboot the system in any type of gaming load and/or 3dmark/unigine benchmark. Everything seems to work accept the AMD option. If I select AMD I keep receiving "Error 13: invalid or unsupported executable format" I press any key to continue, and it takes me back to the main menu screen.

Hi, very informative. I have just one question. I found that on my R9 290 4GB the faulty VRAMs are A0 and B1. How do I know which VRAM coresponds to A0 and to B1? On Nvidia I know it's counter-clockwise but on AMD it isn't apparently. So, how do I know?

i have the same Card. the Sapphire Tri X Edtion and its been behaving really weird after i repaired it. for missing capacitors. it never boots after a long shutdown. i have to use Igpu and then go to device manager . disable and enable the card. then restart and it will work that way. and usually during any gaming sessions it would freeze entire pc. and a notification " Default wattman settings has been restored, due to driver failure" pops up/. i looked on the PCb and its still missing 2 capactiors C715 and C1281 i think. and 2 smaller componentes Named D12xx something. could that be the problem or is it a ram problem>? would greatly apperciate ur help . sorry for the long post

@T3RR0R Download the latest version of WinRAR and try that. I actually use an older version WinRAR 5.70 and that works. The files must be OK (even my split ones) as others have i working. If there was a problem with the download then you would expect to get an error at that point.

Are you having problems downloading it? It's a very large 32GB file so I split it into four downloads and put them on my Google drive - download all four parts install WinRAR (its a free download) right click on the first part of 3.rar extract the file and it should rebuild the entire 32Gb archive 3.rar part 1 drive.google.com/file/d/1TenU... 3.rar part 2 drive.google.com/file/d/1qTTY... 3.rar part 3 drive.google.com/file/d/1zy6R... 3.rar part 4 drive.google.com/file/d/1uOPK...

1. Download gparted-live-1.4.0-1-amd64.iso and write it on a USB stick with Rufus 2. Boot from the USB stick and when in the Gparted Live desktop open a terminal 3. Type in the terminal this command: sudo resize2fs -s /dev/sda3 Where sda3 is the 3rd partition from the video above. This will change the filesystem on that partition from EXT4 64bit to EXT4 32bit. Restart and boot from the HDD, select the 3rd option like you wanted, it might do a e2fsck on the first boot but should run ok after that.

Where's the short exactly? Vcore? It's probably a low side MOSFET short to ground or a smoothing capacitor (one of MANY on that rail!) shorted to ground. At least its not the GPU die itself if you've removed it. If it's shorted to 12v then probably a high side MOSFET short. The GPU die itself might be cooked in this case though, they won't survive 12 volts!

Yes - as long as the video card will detect (or you can force it to ignore memory errors and detect) as a second display. I'm working on another video showing how to do this in Linux, using the integrated graphics. There is another way, using MATS running from a USB drive to auto run on start up, save the log file and auto shut down the PC at the end of the test.

Hey, is there a way to boot this image in UEFI mode at all? I want to use it on a motherboard that has ONLY UEFI and no option for legacy boot (yes, that's a thing now and there's no way around except for a BIOS hack which nobody is going to do for this obscure mobo model). The 2 tinylinux partitions can be booted in UEFI mode but then it won't launch the memory test tool, of course. Is there maybe some kind of legacy emulator that I can boot from USB in UEFI mode and which in turn can boot the hard drive in legacy mode?

I don't know exactly - I had this software for a few weeks and could not get it to work for two reasons: First problem - it would detect the GPU but then say 'invalid register' and stop before the menu appeared - this in the end I worked out was because I needed to disable the embedded intel graphics on my motherboard - Gigabyte B85M. This may or may not apply to other setups, it's just what I worked out after no one on badcaps forum could come up with an answer. Basically played around and worked out that MATS would give this error if I ran it manually from the hard drive, then i googled MATS plus the error message and found a Chinese language forum (yeah I know the Chinese don't speak Chinese, they speak Mandarin or Cantonese mostly) and google translated that enough to understand what was happening Second problem - The hard drive would then boot and run the a VRAM test automatically - but I could not get to the menu. This is the one I worked out by chance - in my BIOS in the BOOT order section, I had to move the hard drive to the top of the list, above the UEFI boot options, Saved that, and then it worked.

@@LearnElectronicsRepair Thanks for the tip with the onboard GPU, I think that's the problem. As I said, I could boot the 2 tinylinux partitions individually with the UEFI boot menu - I assume one is for 30 series cards and the other is for older Nvidia cards (like in the menu which you'd get without UEFI). But neither of them started the memory test with a GTX 1080 installed. Of course I didn't expect the 30 series tool to work with a 1080, but the other one showed the same error as you described and I do have an onboard Intel GPU. I'll switch the display from auto to PCI-e and try again. And by the way, the written Chinese is actually Chinese (traditional in Taiwan and Hong Kong and simplified everywhere else), only the spoken Chinese has dialects (Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien etc.)...

@Radu Fx - did you try the new links I posted in the pinned comment yesterday? I split the 32Gb file into 4x 8Gb files. Is that working for you? I just tried the first part and it seems OK

just click in downloads column the next day and press the play button logo it should continue even if you turned the computer off, the files still in download just paused (thats if you didnt cancel the download when it stopped) Dont click the continue downloads in the top right alert box that pops up first, ignore that one and click "downloads" because if you press the alert that pops up in a box it usually restarts the whole thing again

FYI guys. BIOS sometimes has issues recognizing external HDDs and the live os files often get messed up during installation as well. SSDs or USBs seem to have less issues

Depends on the model. On many it just appears as a USB device.

Thank you! Diagnosing the memory on AMD cards was a well hidden secret until now. :) I have one question: what happens if the screen is blank/black because of the vRAM? Do you just let the program start then later pick one of the options blindly and let the program do it's job?

Has anyone tried to download the RAR files recently? I keep getting an error checksum right before file 3 is about to finish decompressing. I tried WinRar, then switched to 7zip thinking it was the program but I get the same error. I tried redownloading the file, disabling antivirus, did a chkdsk on my drive and it still doesnt work. Any help?

Hello brother, I am repairing the graphics card. Is it possible to convert an 8gb card to 6gb in the rx series? For example, the chip is faulty, even if the d0 and 01 vrams are changed, it still shows faulty. In this case, is it possible to disable d0 and d1 and run the card as 6GB?

That will usually be the GPU core needs reballing as the balls have cracked under the GPU

I followed your tutorial but i can’t get the hdd/ssd (tried both) to boot properly into the tool menu, it just gets me to an infinite fileid 0x00006c error or my gpu won’t show with the commands of your other video where you repair a 980ti. I’m trying to test the Vrams in my 3080ti because every once in a while i detect strange missing portions of my screen (as in a black screen) or artifacts but they only appear within a fraction of second. I don’t seem to have any issue when heavy loads of gaming, this only happens when normal navigation or when using KZbin. Has anyone got the same issue? What can i do to make the program work?
