Yeah, I'm gonna buy some of those wide flat C120 tips for it as I think it may be very good on SOIC IC. There are compatible C120 on AliExpress at a more reasonable price

Have been using soldering tweezers for many years now. Could never understand why they are not more popular. This new one looks quite nice, and if my old set breaks, will certainly gives these a go.

I see they have several types of tips including chisel, which might be better for IC's. I think I would like these if I could justify it for my hobby - next time I'm using two soldering irons, I will give it some serious consideration. Love it when they give you a nice carry case. Happy for you Richard! See you tomorrow on the live stream.

I've found some clones of the C120 wide chisel type tips on AliExpress and I'm gonna by some to see how well they work

I just got some HZY brand and they work quite well as replacements . C210-IS. It seems 2.2 ohms +/- 0.1 is the right heating element value. I also obtained the wide 5mm tips from Sequre and they ahould be awesome at removing larger components or multiple lead 2-row devices.

I discovered an incompatibility issue @28V. Both my Anker Prime 250W and the HT-140 are PD3.1 and promise 28V mode. The cable Sequre provides is good for 28V too. When the tweezers set to max 28V, turned off, then plugged into the fully charged Anker, it beeps for a second and goes dark. 20V is no problem, so that’s what I’ll use for now - but limited to 100W (instead of 140W.) The lower voltage hasn't posed any usability issues for me. Alternately, I can run at 28V right after changing the max voltage, as long as the unit isn't powered down. Sequre is being very supportive of my concern and is looking into the issue, going as far as to acquire the same power bank and replicating the boot failure! It seems they may need to adjust their unit's parameters to tolerate the Anker's unique & impatient trigger behavior at 28V.

What soldering station do you use? Tks
@LearnElectronicsRepair2 ай бұрын
I have tried many different ones but personally use two soldering stations. KSGER T12 and SugonT26D with C210 handle. I use both for differrent reasons during my repairs and can recommend them. For hot air I use the Quick 861DW. The HT140 now earned it's place and proudly sits beside them.

@@LearnElectronicsRepair Have you find good quality clone JBC tips? Or you stick to the OEM?
@Tsjoetenbille2 ай бұрын
Desoldering with tweezers is something everyone agrees is quick and easy. But the electronics world is very divided about soldering SMD components with a tweezer. I see you here soldering with the tweezer so you're from the camp, go ahead, no problem... at my work for example it's not done! I use Weller tweezers and they are seen as a desoldering tool and nothing else. Although with my rebellious nature I sometimes use it to put a resistor on it, I always do that out of sight of the main technicians LOL. so, what is your opinion on this? is there a problem if you use tweezers when soldering? The main reason is that this heats up the component too much, and the PCB does not, so that when the tin cools down, you have a stress factor on the joints. I'm curious about your reaction. Greetings from Belgium!

From Sequre website: "Regarding the EU VAT: Generally, Sequre will prepay the VAT to logistics companies for common products." Have anyone had problems regarding this (EU VAT)? Or customs problems?

I find the sequre a necessary tool in respect of the precision of it`s ability, you hold the components in their allotted pad space on the board and apply solder, so in business to save time on repairs it is necessary, as a hobbist it`s quesionable, if you can justify the price and you do a fair bit of smd soldering, why not, but you do need to purchase other tips as needed.

I somewhat vote against these and the irons that come with their power supplies. Vendors say it can do 140W but is ONLY if you expend more money buying another power supply other than the lower-powered one they gave you. On AE these tweezers are $120.99 + $28.99 shipping CAD plus tax which comes out to $160.48 CAD. Similar price from Sequre if Canada Post was not out on strike here. I should not have to buy another power adapter to get the max wattage out of the iron. Sorry
@LearnElectronicsRepair2 ай бұрын
CAD $160 is equivalent of €109 so the price is very similar in europe though I live in the Canary Islands which are VAT (sales tax) exempt so I automatically get 21% deducted at checkout on Aliexpress and eslewhere. Price for me would be €90, give or take. I think it is reasonable for Sequre to offer the HT140 with the 65W PSU as an option, then you can decide to buy it with the PSU or not. The only other option would be for them to offer it with a 150W PSU at a higher price. Bear in mind this will run up to 28V 5A = 140W and has a coaxial jack power socket as well as USBC so you can get one of those cheap 24V 5A power supplies like the one I got a few weeks ago from AliExpress, currently €6.70 with free shipping. You can adjust the output voltage on those by a few volts so you could set it near to 28V and get the maximum wattage for less than the bundled 65W costs.
